Seems like that objectivity and thoughtful discussion we were talking about earlier has quickly returned typical rant discussion.

I wish instead of just whacking threads we could just delete certain responses from threads and keep the solid discussions moving forward.

Unfortunately I think you're right.

On a side note. How do you feel about your depth at DL? I, along with most Tiger fans, feel this is one of our biggest advantages. McShay, along with other analysts say that our starting 4 on our DL will all be playing at the next level someday. As far as 'Bama fans go, I haven't heard much talk or praise for your 2nd string D-line as I've heard for some of your key 1st stringers.

ETA: Grammar. Booze starting to take effect.

I see LSU starting the game in typical fashion, testing the alabama line. I see that not working as well as they hoped and then, maybe as early as the third series, passing on running downs and running on passing downs- keeping alabama guessing what LSUs offense will do instead of the offense guessing what the defense will do.
I believe there will be a greater % of outside runs by LSU, the "crossbuck", and off tackle (slash) runs than we have seen this year. Alabama offense will attempt to confuse LSU's secondary rather than physically beat them, and of course, their running game will attempt to be smash-mouth. The later will only be successful for 1-2 series, maybe 10 points. Their passing game probably another 7. LSU 20-17.

Were actually really deep too. We roll in alot of guys for specific down and distance. We dont have nine but we only need 6 really, plus I think we go about 7 also.

Actually, our starting D-Line hasn't gotten much praise this year, but they have been quietly going about their business, putting their work in, and getting their job done which is to let our linebackers make plays. They have been extremely solid the entire year.

Our second string is much the same way. You don't hear much about them because we substitute them in and out constantly throughout the game, that it's hard to draw a clear line of distinction between the first string and second string. Some names to look out for of guys who have been making plays all year: Chapman, Williams, and Gentry.

To sum: there are no All Americans on our D-line this year, just solid competitors who do what they're supposed to do.

Given, LSU and Bama are both stacked with talent and have ALL the tools they need to win, this game is essentially about coaching philosophies and in-game adjustments.

Looking back to the Saban days, those teams were more possession based grind-out teams which followed the book on offense and payed agressive defense...Bama looks the same

Miles's teams don't really follow the book, tend to be unpredictable and can look badly coached sometimes on O, though given enough talent and time to prepare for games, the unpredictability can become a huge advantage and that's what I see being the difference on Nov 5th.

Look for trick plays on O and special teams (Sheppard or Ware throwing the ball, wildTiger, audibles) look for game changing plays/blitzes from Mathieu, Montgomery and co, look for the Miles special if things get too close (reverse to the TE, flip bounce pass to the punter, going for it on 4th down 5 times)

I've never been so excited before a game. I might even use those crazy TD emoticons...

He kills teams by getting behind them on PA but Dre HAS to know that it'l be coming at some point. Randle doesn't seem like a big play guy if he catches the ball in front of the D. Whoever Milliner is matched up on scares the shite outta me.

Randle isn't just a guy that catches the ball and runs. Dude has got some moves.

You seem to have a very limited imagination.

Same here and it has been that way for me every game this year. So far the "no feel" is proving to be LSU stomping the crap out the opponents.

We've seen enough stats to last a lifetime but what will they mean come game time? I think LSU will pound pound pound and get big plays through the air on play action and maybe take advantage of 1 on 1's. Dre and them are awesome but they let WRs get behind them occasionally. I can't imagine LSU running very effectively where I DO see Alabama moving the ball very well on the ground. Will Saban and company make sure AJ has easy reads? Are there even easy reads against LSU's secondary? Just wondering which matchup's everyone sees playing a role in the game.

Nice to see a Bama poster for real and not trolling. LSU offense is built to pick up 3-4 yards rushing at a time and then hit you with single coverage. It's not hard to stop LSU, you just have to stop our running game without bringing in your safeties. Once you start bringing them up, it's game over. We'll hit Randle deep.

I haven't seen Bama a whole lot this season, but to stop LSU's offense - you will need to keep your safeties in coverage. Defensively, the only weakness I've seen is power running game. But we're improving there - AU tried it and got stuffed. Bama is a whole different animal though

LSU and Alabama are about as equal as you can get. It's going to be a great game.

tell you guys this, though. I'm thankful that we struggled in the first half against Tennessee and put the game on AJ's shoulders in the second half. I know that Tennessee's defense is no where near as good as LSU's, but this is the first time that AJ has been given the responsibility to win the game and he performed remarkably well. I hope he can carry that confidence forward into the LSU game.

I agree, I was a little worried how AJ would react to the INT against UT. And, he did great in the second half. Maybe it's just me, but I think he throws better to Hanks than to Maze, or aleast Hanks made some damn good catches on Sat night. I was at the game and haven't had a chance to watch it again.

I can't wait to see JC Copeland against Bama's LBs. I know there will be some epic collisions

I think the LSU fullbacks against the Tide linebackers is a key match-up that isn't getting near enough discussion.

Our fullbacks haven't faced a linebacking corps like this and I don't think Bama's linebacking corps has faced a team that uses the fullback position as often and as succesfully as the Tigers do. I'm really interested to see how this match-up goes.

Not to mention, we have 3 fullbacks that we rotate.

I think that's the game right there. Either Alabama will be able to stop the run with the LBrs and keep guys in coverage or it'l take safeties to help stop the run and LSU will hit long passes with regularity. I think it all comes down to just that.

I agree, but the fullbacks used in pass protection will also be huge for Lee to stay mistake free.

Yeah I'll be ok with the Dline getting enough pressure to hinder some of LSU's deep passes. There are no Sue's or Fairley's on Alabama's line. Upshaw is AWESOME but I don't see him ruining LSU's game plan single handedly.

Oh I think he's capable of it, but I don't think it will happen. I think using the fullbacks against that linebacking corp makes the defenses more of a push. I think LSU will run the ball better than people think and I think Richardson and McCarron will be pressured more than people are expecting. This game could easily come down to field position and "survivable" mistakes made by each team.
