I would be shocked if we get more than 5 commits on signing day, so it looks like 21 is the number, saving 4 for next year, transfers, and possible late additions (Diggs/Diamond) who are deciding after signing day.

This is the only year SEC teams can back count (against the last two classes). Starting next year 25 is the limit, period.

So what happens if a team continues to get only 20 recruits and loses 7 players a year for 5 years straight?

We only have around 13 seniors and have thus far shown an unwillingness to process players. Normal attrition will get that number up to around 20 open spots but without some guys leaving early we won't be able to sign 25 next year unless we save a few from this years class. If we can land all our targets then I'm fine with signing up to 25 but if were talking about last minute plan b guys I'd rather we just save those for next year.

You can still back count next year and any year after that as long as you didn't sign 25 the year before. I've only seen message board posters saying you can't. All of the insiders Ive seen have said you can still back count next year. B Matthews said in his last recruiting update that if we miss on some guys we will only sign 20 or so and back count next year.

This is the response i got about 20 pages back. so am i to understand that we cannot count after this year?

Confusing mother frickers.

Alright, don't shoot the messenger, and I'm not completely sure I buy this, but multiple UF sites are reporting that Williams is down to UF and USCw. Like I said, I'm not sure I believe this, but you guys should do some digging from your insiders.

Just saw an update this morning saying his top 3 were Auburn, FSU, and Florida (in no order), with USCw and one other bringing up the rear. All of our insiders are confident with Williams.

I think AU leads, given the circumstances that FSU has. I told AMM last night how I feel about Williams.

Wrong. You can still back count next year. Bryan Matthews says you can still do it. And I haven't heard anybody other than random message board poster saying you can't back count next year.

From an ESPN article (dated June 2011) on the new rules passed by the SEC this summer:

quote:

The five proposals passed are:

• Reducing the scholarship ceiling from 28 to 25 prospects. Additionally, the league has done away with back-counting, meaning a junior college player who signs in December would count toward the number in the February signing class.

• Eliminating the graduate-student exemption to the rule the league has had in place for years whereby a student-athlete must have two years of eligibility remaining to transfer to an SEC school. The previous rule allowed former Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli to attend Mississippi last season.

• An SEC school cannot sign a prospect to an SEC financial-aid agreement until that prospect is enrolled in school and a full-time student attending classes. "It's a way of dealing with early enrollees," Slive said. "It would not permit other institutions to talk to you. We want to know that our prospects are coming to our institutions."

• The conference will oversee the administration of medical hardship exemptions. The league will review each case and decide the outcome.

• Prospects attending summer school will count against the 25 scholarship total that year.

7 day free trial bra. Or just pony up the $10 a month unless that is breaking the bank.
