Cue victory music. This topic has really gained legs. I for one am very proud of the efforts of oversigning.com and several concerned SEC fans!

I don't expect any sweeping changes from this SEC meeting, but it's coming. And as long as we keep highlighting the evils of the issue, the outcry will grow. I'm glad to all the coverage of the topic.

Stewart Mandel's latest blip about oversigning.

It's so sad the white south has always thought it could "do what it do and keep doing it" with regard to the futures of these young men!

It's even sadder that a yank bigot like yourself still refers to it as a "white south. "

What kind of future would these young men have in the "white south" if it weren't for SEC football?

Are you serious?

By the way, if they are "young men", then their asses are grown up enough to make an informed decision about where to attend school. I'm so sick of the "THINK ABOUT THE BABIES!!!11!" bullshite.

Here's the argument someone sent to Wiki about Saban's oversigning.

This has been a long time in the works. The SEC wanted this last year but compromised and then found out the compromise was pointless and was still taking a beating in the press so this is going to be done.

Meh. There is no such thing as oversigning. Everybody gets 85.

Oversigning.com is kind of like The Freedom Riders. With Saban as Bull Connor and Nutt as Ross Barnett.

Are there any Bama fans against oversigning? Don't think I've seen one on here that is......

I think it sucks. I'd like to see the SEC get a rule limiting the practice. College football IS NOT pro football (thankfully). Y'all want to watch people get signed and cut and thrown away like pieces of meat for a dollar, there's plenty of pro football on tv.

Guess they gotta do something to keep the man down.

Saban laughs at this.

This sentence is full of passive aggressive animosity.

Personally I don't have a problem with limiting oversigning in some fashion. So long as it is a rational rule that does not punish schools for kids who never qualify or enroll... and so long as the same rules apply to everyone

I am against paying college athletes for a variety of reasons (hard to limit, not affordable at most "1a" universities esp after considering all the sports you would have to pay, would lead to an arms race of diff conferences paying more)... but I could see a real argument for the school being obligated to mentor kids for up to six years if it took them that long to earn a college degree.

If the primary benefit for a kid that is signed and does enroll remains their ability to get a college degree? That would be a good thing... esp if that allowed football players etc to come back to school and finish their degrees after their football eligibility were used up.
