I always thought that quote belonged to Larry Blackney, thr now HC at Troy. I thought after all his success at Troy the reason he's never been offered a better job was bc of that quote.

correct... Blakeney is a hell of a coach, but his part in the ramsey fiasco is probably the main reason he's never gotten a better opportunity.

I was doing a little research of th bryant coaching tree, Off the top of my head, I have come up with 11 caches that played or coached with Bryant: Gene Stallings, Howard Schnellenberger, Paul Ditzel, Danny ford, Charlie Pell, Bill Battle, Mike Riley, Ray PErkins, Charlie McClendon, Jackie Sherril and PAt Dye (I kno there is more I'm trying to think still). However, these Bryant disciples have accounted for:
4 national titles,
18 conference titles
61 top 25 finishes,
55 top 20 finishes,
45 top 15 finishes,
33 top 10 finishes,
10 top 5 finishes
and 47 bowl victories aainst only 23 bowl losses.

In response to the NCAA investigating the ramsey deal, probably both of them.

my favorite Dye quote (other than 60 minutes).... after kicking the FG to tie the sugar bowl against syracuse...
"If they wanted to win the game, they should've blocked the field goal. I'm going huntin'."

You didnt have to admit that. Also, not that the mullet with racing stripes was ever wildly popular, but if you were wearing it 15 years ago then you were about 7 years late the the party.
