Tonight, Bama and Auburn have a baseball game against each other but the outcome will not count in the SEC standings. This game is called the Capital City Classic. If this game is to raise money for a charity then I understand, but if it isn't, then why doesn't two SEC teams squaring off, doesn't count?

Georgia and bama did it last year and this year. I'm pretty sure ours were for charity, I would imagine this one is too. Just a fun little thing to raise money I'd guess.

It does not count, because it was not scheduled by the conference. The two schools chose to play one of their OOC games against each other.

It has nothing to do with the association with charity.

If you all remember back about 5 to 10 years ago there used to be Miss St & Ole Miss vs LSU & Tulane in the Dome before the Season started Skip and Polk put that together back in the early 90's and those games did not count as Conference games but did count towards the seasons totals. That was good for College Baseball and now because of the drop-off there needs to be more of it in order to get the popularity back up again. Here in Baton Rouge we have held the attendance record for the last 12 to 15 years and just wish it was like that in other parts of the Country and there would be more TV games. College Baseball is a lot more fun to watch and also be there in person than Pro ball because of the atmosphere is great.

Also If I am not mistaken didn't Bama Auburn and Georgia and Georgia Tech play the same type of games sometime back? Just asking it seems as though I remember there was something of the sort in the past. That is great for the game more like we just played Cal St Fullerton this past weekend with LSU winning all 3 games. They came in ranked #1 and LSU was Ranked #7 and if that was Football or Basketball TV would have been all over it. We did finaly get Cox Sports to carry the Sunday game.
