I thought we hit the ball well in spurts. Only 1 HR this series, which is fine. That is a definite change from last year. We seemed to manufacture runs more than we did a year ago. We are a fast team. Our OF closes very fast on the ball and we get around the bases very well.
I think I was most impressed with our pitching this weekend. Granted, we did not play a great team by any means, but only giving up 2 runs in 27 innings is impressive considering the freshmen that saw time. I was most impressed with Stanek and Moore. I thought both threw the ball extremely well and located their pitches great.

Follow in Cal steps and drop the program.

Alabama's went about like I expected. I would've been pretty surprised had we not swept Alcorn St. That said, the pitching staff led by Morgan and Kilcrease is supposed to be our strong point(especially while some of the younger position players find their roles) and we only gave up two runs all weekend. I was pleased with the offense scoring 24 runs (11,5,8) considering we lost our entire infield and 2-5 hitters from last year's squad. It was especially nice seeing that offense with Dugas struggling the first two games. All that said, we played Alcorn St so who the hell knows

I really see my Diamond Dawgs having a good season. Our pitching and fielding was great this weekend (0 errors and only 3 earned runs in 36 innings) Our freshmen played great and I think that CT Bradford and Darryl Norris are future All SEC players.

Our pitching looks a little better than even I expected. Our freshmen look really good. Our hitting was good as well. Nola had a couple errors this weekend which is very unlike him, but fielding wasn't too bad this series.
But this was against wake forest, so this doesn't tell us much. The Cal State Fullerton series will tell us a lot.
ETA: And whoever the wake forest 3rd basemen is, is a pretty fricking good fielder. He made 3-4 amazing plays at third today. Props to him.

We played lots of small ball. Pitching was in BEASTMODE, Stanek and Moore are Awesome. McKinney looks to be fully recovered from that ACL tear from last year, and he was hitting really well. Kyle Robinson looked improved by a ton. Had 6 RBI's this weekend.

LSU has a frickton of talent, how that talent will progress and perform throughout the year is obviously still in doubt.
Mikie Mahtook will likely be one of the best hitters in the conference. If our frosh pitchers(Kevin Gausman, Ryan Eades, and Kurt McCune) pitch like they did this weekend, the SEC is in trouble. Newcomers like Raph Rhymes and JaCoby Jones were also very impressive at the plate. Matty Ott looked fantastic also.
very encouraging weekend, though it is only the first weekend. IF, LSU's newcomers produce, LSU will be the best team in the SEC and return to Omaha...I'm very confident in saying that
we'll see
