Cut it down and make Cane poles so those necks can fish.

The trees may not die as a consequence of the man's actions. I may be wrong. I knew someone who once tried to kill a huge oak by the same method, and he told me, "I think the tree is loving that shite. It's been over a year and it looks healthier than ever."
