Same thing happened to me with Tom Clancey. I loved his books ... read every damn one them more than once... then I saw him in an interview.

What.... a.... fig. Jesus. All these manly, war-spy-intelligence-thrillers.. and the guy IS Truman Capote. I was so disappointed.

NOT a good thing, but Capote was fully blown out of his gourd type crazy. I think they used to put him on late at night just so they could save some $$ on TV signal or something. Then people would have an opportunity to focus on something besides TV. But that's way too rational, isn't it? They need to start showing some reruns right before some of this crap.... anyway, you get my point.

That's up for debate. Some say it was on the TN- SC border, but the states weren't as easily defined geographically as they are today.

Make no mistake Jackson was a Tennessean through and through.

The only debate was that he was born in some area that crosses into both SC and NC.

So it was, all I know is Jackson and the Tennessee Volunteers kicked arse all across the American Southeast. British and the Indians were no match
