No im not assuming too much...
My logic follows that of what the Big Ten is currently looking to do. The only difference is that the Big Ten has its own network.
But if the Big 12 were to implode, opening up the opportunity of the two largest schools in Texas, with all of their money and media markets, would immediately look attractive to the SEC cause of the region, what the schools offer(competitiveness) and how the schools will immediately benefit from more $ from more lucrative tv contracts.

I don't think the SEC is looking to expand past 12 schools, but obviously if the opportunity to pick up Texas and A&M were to arise, would be stupid not to take it. That is pretty much the only addition where we could make MORE money then we already do.

I kinda just did a double take thinking again about the possibility of the SEC adding Texas and Texas A&M.
Stop and think about how ridiculous that would make the SEC.
First, in a money sense: adding Texas and A&M is big and that pretty well lock up most of the state as SEC country.
Second, in a football recruiting sense. The South (from Louisiana to Georgia) obviously has a disproportionate amount of the nation's talent. But this would mean the SEC would have arguably the flagship schools in both Florida and Texas. That's two of the three most talent rich football schools in the country

I still think Notre Dame is making a huge mistake not trying to join the Big Ten. I imagine one of the networks would give us an exclusive deal like the SEC has with CBS. Maybe on NBC and we could keep our deal with ABC. It's not like NBC has any good programming on anyway.

Another thought..
For grins, let's say Nebraska, KU and Mizzou go to the Big 10. Texas and A&M to the SEC.
Where does that leave Oklahoma and OSU (who are also likely a package deal)?
