Donald Jackson, attorney for Renardo Sidney and his parents (Renardo Sr. and Patricia Sidney), said that the NCAA interviewed his clients for about six hours today in Montgomery, Ala., regarding its ongoing amateurism evaluation of Mississippi State’s 6-foot-10 freshman. Alex Hammond and Steve Webb of the Eligibility Center were both on hand – Hammond has been involved for most of the investigation; Webb seems to be a new player in this.

The most interesting thing to come out of this is that the NCAA feels it has established a violation on the Sidneys’ part, but the information is apparently coming from anonymous sources.

“Webb confirmed that the Eligibility Center has no one ‘on the record’ that has established violations of any type,” Jackson wrote in the mass text message he so prefers. “He stated that they ‘hope to have someone on the record in the future.’ He stated that the Eligibility Center cannot declare a student athlete ineligible based upon anonymous sources but confirmed that they only have anonymous source information.”

As for the interviews themselves, here’s the bulk of Jackson’s text concerning that:

“Much of the interview time was devoted to information that was previously addressed during the parties’ July interviews. No evidence of any violations was unearthed during the interviews. Notably, the staffers requested information (from me) to assist in scheduling interviews with Reebok staffer Chris Rivers and an elderly team mother from a Los Angeles high school. To date, the NCAA has made no effort to interview either and has made no effort to initiate conact with either. Rivers is an employee with a multi-national athletic company and quite easy to locate.”

Sidney Sr. at one point was employed by Reebok as a “consultant.”

He's screwed now.Anon sources are all they need for their hammer to drop against someone.

There's some majorly dangerous precedents being set with this case.

It doesnt matter. AU will still be the worse bball team in the SEC, even if every other team in the conference goes on probation at the same time.

Yeah they haven't really beat much of anyone. 1 RPI Top 100 win. 1 loss to a team outside the Top 100...yawn

Fixed it for you, because he's got NOTHING for anyone on our court in his current "non game shape" fatness.

I will bet my life we make it to the NCAA Tourny and receive our 7th some kind of SEC championship in the last 9 years. Winning the West is getting old, I'm ready to finally take it to a new level and at least make it to the Sweet 16.

Does that tell you how good the west has been in basketball? You can win it and still not be nationally relevant. Nobody in the country gives a shite about SEC basketball except our own fans
