Mike Dubose????

I know he just got hired as the Memphis DC, but maybe Mullen talks him into coming to State.

Guess that he was HC at UNC or that his defenses under Mack were considered some of the country's best are not anything to be worth mentioning. Also I guess that you can only accomplish things at Bama.

He was average as a DC at North Carolina. He failed completely taking over as head coach, after Brown went to Texas. He had one good season as DC at Alabama. His defenses at Texas A&M were horrible.

I was just thinking of that. Would be a pretty solid hire.

Joe Lee Dunn is washed up and Ellis Johnson will likely not come back.

Coach "O" is a decent DC and a good recruiter (but he's still at UT for now).

I heard a new name today in Middle Tenn DC Manny Diaz. He is a young DC who has previously coached at NC State and Florida State. He is originally from the Miami area and that should help with recruiting there.

UNC D was top ten in the country when Mack left. Torbush was the DC

The More I have read about this Manny Diaz guy at MTSU the more I like him. He was the youngest DC in America when he was hired and has done some really good things at MTSU, and has South Florida recruiting ties as well.

Have you heard anything about how fast they are looking to get this done.

Not sure, but I assume a hire will be made possibally by the end of this week, so our new DC will be able to get out on the road and talk to some of our defensive recruits.

Diaz is on the top of my list, he fits in better on Mullen's staff being young and entergetic. Torbush wasnt a good fit he was older and preferred to sit in the booth during games (until Mullen made him come down to field level)

My guess it is going to be an up and coming position coach working under the tutelage of a big name DC somewhere. No names to give you; just a hunch.

I'm glad he's gone. I didn't dislike him but I hated seeing our defense drop like it did this year.
