I think it is a little early to call Ole Miss underrated because they held Memphis to 150 yards passing. That QB was horrible.

That will give you more options than 2 incomplete passes so you're 3rd and long and memphis expecting what's coming.

Disagree. We ran OUR gameplan and weren't worried about what Memphis was doing. Our coaches stuck with our QB through his shaky play and that shows dedication to him and to the plan. It shows our players that the coaches have faith in them to handle the adversity. Not to mention, Nutt didn't want to do anything different and end up showing his hand to the rest of the country.

No he was having a bad game period till it was out of hand for Memphis. Sometimes you do have to change your gameplan. It's called adjustments.

Wrong. Adjustments are moving from zone to man. Or asking the RB to stay more shallow on the wide side screens. Or asking the QB to only use 2 check downs instead of 3 so that the ball comes out quicker when pressured. Changing the plan of attack from balanced (whether it's 1st, 2nd or 3rd to keep them guessing) to heavy run is altering your entire game. It demonstrates a lack of confidence in your QB which is seen by everyone on the team. It would have been the wrong thing to do.

He was average for qtr 1. Horrible for qtr 2. Good for qtr 3. Very good for qtr 4.

Agree. It's too early to know anything about any SEC team. With the exceptions of Bama and UF.

I give Memphis alot of credit for disrupting our game plan and putting our offense off balance for the first half. Their fans however, are garbage and deserve to be driven off a cliff in a city buss lined with switch blade knives and glass bottles full of sulfuric acid.

I love when they started calling us overrated at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Then the team shut their traps fairly quickly. Plus you don't call someone over rated that you are currently losing to at the beginning of the final quarter. Its just going to piss them off to where we play much better.

I've watched the game up till the start of the 4th quarter...OM is not the #6 team in the country based on what I saw

OL - Very shakey...even on Jerry's side
Eason is over-rated as a RB
Snead will be forced out of the pocket a ton
Special Teams were OK
Depth appears to be an issue
Bolden, McCluster and Trahan are great players
Memphis is horrible

You could say the exact same thing about LSU, OSU, Texas (until just before the half), Bama (until the end of the 3rd), etc, etc, etc.

It's too early to tell anything. Good OR bad. I don't think you can logically call anyone under-rated or over-rated at this point.

Well except for the 11 returning starters on Floridas defense. Who lets Charleston Southern score?

I was really upset at times thinking what the hell is going on, this is not the team I expected to see. We seemed to get better in the second half but still some rough spots. Found out yesterday 12 of the starters including Snead are suffering from swine flu and it made me a little easier about the way we played. Really glad our off week is now considering sickness. I guess we won't know what we are really looking at until we play again.

I'm thinking back to last year's Vandy game and playing armchair from the 2nd qtr scenario so this is probably gonna continue b/c there is no way see if my way would have worked. We can play if's though. If we all had the crystal ball and knew your defense would have had a pick 6 and had a fumble recovery later in the game. But running the ball more in the 2nd qtr would have not meant abandoning your QB and going to the run then doesn't mean you cannot return to your game plan if it opens things back up and Snead finds his groove. And yes, that is adjustments just like your examples. And yes, sometimes you do still have to change your game plans if it ain't working. BTW, nobody on the team is ever gonna lack confidence in Snead at any time.

Well, maybe you're right. But SELA will definitely be a much tougher game.

As long as the 2nds are capable of putting up 50 on SELA, I'm fine with that too. What ever happens, we can't afford to barely (meaning, by less than 21pts) beat anyone on our schedule who isn't ranked.

What's your point? We handled business with 2nd/3rd teams in the first half with freshman all over the field in the 2nd half...

Hell...It was our first game too with our QB playing in his first game in 698 days...

Don't try to deflect just because there are deficiencies in your team

yes.

What are your thoughts about your team?

Good but rusty. Defensive Backs were the weak point last year. They are sick now.
quote:

Were you happy with Snead's play?

no, but he's had swine flu.
quote:

What are your thoughts about Memphis??

Better than last year when they went to the Saint Pete bowl.
The best I've ever seen them on Defense. They were not missing any tackles.

establish the running game to open up the passing for him when he's struggling.

Memphis stacked the box the entire game. we can't run when they have 7 in the box. It's that simple.

130. Same QB and recievers threw for 270 against us last year.
