You should getting a hobby.
The stars ranking is what is not as important as where the NFL talent is coming from. Coaches have alot to do with the star system as do the guys trying to make money on subscriptions. Auburn got an ILB commit the other day rated at 9th best but dropped from a 4star to a 3star after he committed.
This link is a map to where the NFL talent is coming from. Notice Arkansas is the most bankrupt talent state in the SEC by a wide margin. You would think in alot of instances the MO, KS, OK, and TX quality talent is staying in state and alot of their South east talent would consider Ole Miss which is in an extremely talent rich area.

wildrebeltime? Is that you?
And elaborate further on why average star rankings don't matter?
And FWIW, Arkansas doesn't look that bad off from that graph.

How do you know for sure? I'm just basing it off of his use of NFL to designate the in state talent of an area.

Same thing here.
He's an intelligent guy but has a thing for Arkansas' lack of in-state talent. He posts the same way, kind of.

I cant believe UGA hasnt accomplished more with those recruiting classes.
UGA is among the most consistent teams in the SEC.
Since 2004 LSU has won 51 games UGA has won 50. The only issue is they haven't made it to the national level yet even with all of this consistency.

The NFL is the standard of football at the highest level. If a team who pays alot of money to scouts and players feels good enough to draft a guy, when they'll turn around a couple days later and sign 10 more as free agents, then guys getting drafted and how that related to a recruting class or their star rating 4 or 5 years prior is interesting to evaluate.
If you really get serious about evaluating some draft stats, I'll tell you something very interesting about Arkansas. Nutt's detractors would tell you he's a poor recruiter who can only win on luck, or the prior coaches recruits b/c that is what he's done at 2 sec programs now. They think Danny Ford was a great recruiter b/c Nutt tied for the west in 98 with Ford's players. However, if you take away the first class that basically each coach had to rebuild or contain once he was hired, and look at their first full class, year 2, Nutt actually put more of his recruits in the draft than Ford. twice, Nutt had 6 of his recruits drafted the same year. The most Ford ever had was 5 but typically 1 or 2. Ford routinely won 10+ games at Clemson and is their all time winningest coach so obviously by Ark standards he is an agreed upon quality recruiter.
The real kicker is, players brought in in the Ford era were being overpaid by a Dallas truck operator. Ford was cheating, Nutt paid the price for Ford's cheating with sanctions and a 3 year cloud, AND STILL OUT RECRUITED HIM.
I can only imagine what a big time recruiter like Nutt could do in a saturated area like north central MS.

this tells me that there is something wrong with Mark Richt.

2009: Rivals - #18 Team Ranking/ 3.11 Average Stars
---------Scout - #17 Team Ranking/ 2.97 Average Stars
I imagine that would be about 8th in the conference.

Well, in that span they have won two SEC titles and over 80% of their games.
and LSU and UF have two NC's in that same span. With those classes, UGA should have atleast been playing for one.

Richt has done a great job at recruiting at Georgia. His classes often have a monumental average star rating; which leads to success on the field. Georgia has maintained top 10 classes continually and shows no sign of having their recruiting prowess affected
Now if he could only find somone to coach them.

Personally, I believe Richt has done just fine

I would expect an Auburn fan to think so. You guys dont expect to win crystal footballs. Even when you go undefeated.

Great job.
It's strange to see a single post about various teams with no intentional flames in it.

Given that we've had the same records as you did during your NC years (13-1 in 2002, 11-2 in 2007) perhaps the conclusion you should draw is that there is more to winning an NC than what a team controls on the field. Nahh.. clearly Richts 13-1 (losing to UF) season wasn't up to par with LSUs 13-1 losing to UF season.
