TX is either SW or Midwest and Oklahoma is the definition of Midwest

And there isn’t a remote case. They consider themselves way above the SEC, especially academically and don’t need them. Finebaum is a complete moron

The only schools closer to Austin than South Bend are Arkansas, LSU, A&M, and OU. MSU is roughly the same distance to both.

Gainesville is also closer to Austin than South Bend.
Tuscaloosa is also only about 45 minutes closer to South Bend than it is to Austin which not

far closer

7 of the 15 are roughly equal or closer to Austin.
roughly half.

which is not

It'd be good for the conference for some period of time until playing a SEC Schedule week in and week out for 10+ years reduced Notre Dame to Vanderbilt's level and then they'd be another albatross like Vandy money wise (all take, no give). Notre Dame has succeeded its entire history by playing almost no one during the regular season. They have won multiple "national titles" in years they did not play in a bowl game. Historically the games they have played against marquee opponents were games played against other teams that played no one either....

Why do we fans care in the least how much more money anyone gets?

Fans don't care, but realistically the only reason existing conference teams will okay expansion is if it causes their payouts to go up. Recognizing that fact should let you understand what conferences might do going forward.

Existing SEC and Big 10 teams will add teams based on how much money the move will bring them. Not about hatred or rivalries.

FSU and Clemson bring in more rivalries to the SEC. But it's tough to see how they bring in more money for the existing SEC teams.

ND would bring in more money. That's why both the Big 10 and the SEC would add them if they're allowed to. I expect them to end up in the Big 10, but there's no way the SEC would say no.

ND does not give a shite about conferences. They're on that NBC grind and forcing Americans who cant reach their remotes to pretend they care about ND.

Point to counterpoint Sankey got his arse tore up in negotiations. Unless you believe usc and ucla are just worth that much more than Tex/ou
This.

It doesn't matter if ND should join or not. Sankey has proven he's not the guy to be in charge if the conference expands again.

Snakey is an idiot, and if he is in charge at the next expansion the SEC will get screwed in negotiations

No teams from the midwest in the SEC. At least Missouri is somewhat southern in the southern parts.

You may want to look into why KY didn't secede officially. The unionists in the state felt slavery was best protected by the Union. A risky confederacy meant certain death to slavery if it lost a war. They didn't stay in the union out of some love for the North. Or because they hated the south. The education of the american civil war in this country has been a tragedy.
