Except it is. He hit the portal when Mel Tucker told him after spring that the QB competition was open. Not something that happens to a QB that starts for 2 years, unless he’s about to be replaced. He even said in an interview that he had no plans to leave MSU until after Tucker told him that he wasn’t going to be named the starter.

You’re an idiot. Thorne was in zero danger of losing the starting spot at MSU

I guess you should told that to his former HC that stripped the starting spot away from him. Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

You're free to use his failures as the example of why he won't succeed, but the success can't be discounted correct? Lol I fully acknowledge that he might fail, but his past performance shows me he's capable with support. At this point TJ Finley has had more success in college than Robby. The sad part is that he's going to waste the next 2 years trying to play QB, then scramble pre draft to switch to receiver when now would be the smart time to learn the position.

I go by the trajectory. He has steadily declined. People try to use the JC comparison, but Campbell steadily got better each year, not worse.

Thorne has zero shot at the NFL though, no matter if he switches positions or not.

No one has claimed Thorne is an NFL QB not one poster has even remotely said that.

Good thing I’m not. Thorne and Coleman left because they saw the sinking ship going down.

Speculation… not fact…was that there was going to be an open competition. This speculation came up after he entered the transfer portal. Neither Tucker nor Thorne have mentioned this discussion.

Thorne’s reasoning after committing to AU was he wanted to play for an offensive minded head coach. I’m sure SEC money had an influence on his landing spot.

But keep doing you and we all will keep laughing

Even JJ had some moments of glory.

I give him credit for being tough enough to stick it out.

He won a bowl game.

When was the last time we won a bowl game?

After 2018? Purdue? That was Stidham.

I think 2015 was JJ LEADING US TO Birmingham to beat the Memphis Tigers.

No college coach has ever wanted to start with Ashford. They all deemed him inferior to the other guy no matter who the other guy was.

Payton Thorne could easily hit 90 TDs and maybe 8,000 throwing yards.

At QB he's also not better than TJ Finley, the kid that beat him at South Carolina, whoever the hell beat him at Oregon, and heck, thrown in baby goat Hank brown into the mix on that one. Fantastic athlete though

Stats and performances against our top rivals says otherwise. But Ashford is gone and hopefully PT doesn’t start in the fall, or we’re looking at another 5-7 win season.

Same can be said for below average Thorne.

We have all endured a lot of sage at that position recently. I just don't understand why we cannot get a good quarterback more than once in a fricking blue moon. It just doesn't make sense.

Let's reminisce shall we?

Brandon Cox - The sad part of all this is that BC was one of the best QB's we have had in the past 20 years.

Kody Burns - Played maybe one good game in his career. And that covers two positions

Chris Todd - Limp arm but was lucky to be in when Gus's system was new in the SEC. He was better than average for us

Cam Newton - GOAT for us

Barrett Trotter - Up down, up down. Gutted it out in his last game.

Clint Mosley - Jesus Crist

Kiehl Frazier - Recruited by Gus since he was in diapers. Still sucked something aweful

Jonathan Wallace - Was so bad, I can not even insult him

Nick Marshall - As one of our posters call him, fricking magician - Probably my favorite Auburn QB of all time.

Jeremy Johnson -

Sean White - Stoner who tricked y'all bitches after his first game.

JF3 - If you watched the Netflix show, you saw all you need to see

Jarrett Stidham - Never liked him. Just didnt. But he was good at least half the time and won some big games for Auburn. He is up there near the top of the list in this time frame

Bo Nix - Loved him after the first game but I dont know if it was him or Gus but it was seriously up and down. Hated he quit on Auburn but he was smart to do so.

TJ Finley - We should never have brought him in. He was a QB like I am a fricking 200 meter sprinter

Robby Ashford - I really dont know what to say

Malik Willis - Sucked here, picked his game up at Liberty which he should have. Had huge hopes for him at Auburn. wrong fit and the wrong time

Throne - He fricking sucks

1 NFL QB out of the past 25 years. ONE

Tell me this trend is going to change at some point. You can lie to me, I will probably believe you. But dont tell me Throne is going to be good. I wont believe that

I admit I was not on the Hugh Freeze train at first. I was kinda meh with him. He needs to show us something this year. Especially at QB. Plus dont lose to fricking high school teams and throw Irow bowl wins out the window like they are easy
