Probably because it would be 50 years before LSU had another season of 10+ wins after 1908. Prior to Saban's arrival in 2000, LSU had just five seasons of 10 wins or more:

1908
1958
1961
1987
1996

LSU has had 13 seasons of 10 wins or more since the turn of the century. One could say that Saban's arrival had a lot to do with the turn around in success.

Congrats on your success in the new millineum. But the number of regular season games increased to 12 at that time, making it exponentially easier to make it to 10 wins.
