There were some talented guys we could definitely use. Especially when we may have trouble filling out the 2-deep in the secondary at this point.

The Michigan State safety in the portal, Jaden Mangham, sounds pretty good

Mangham has a lot of experience at safety. Also, I hope Bama is going after Isaiah Hamilton, the corner from Houston and the So Ala OT Adrein Strickland.

We still need OL and DBs. Feel really good about all our starters but if we have injuries we are gonna be in a tough spot

Right now we're at 83 for roster spot. There might be few that's not on scholarship and we might not know. I think we'll be okay. We might add one OL or 2 defensive players.

I dont think we will go after any starter.caliber guys unless players leave. Seems like Deboer has told the players he is going to ride with them. Just my opinion tho.

Wake Forest transfer DaShawn Jones has picked up interest from major SEC and Big Ten programs since entering the portal on Tuesday.

One of the top available cornerbacks on the market, the redshirt sophomore started in nine games in the 2023 season. He tallied 37 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and led the team with three interceptions and two pass breakups.

Jones told On3 on Wednesday morning that he’s heard from LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Georgia, Mississippi State, Indiana, Liberty and Ole Miss in the last 24 hours. Virginia Tech also extended an offer. The cornerback already has his first visit scheduled, too.

The Wake Forest transfer said he will be visiting Alabama this weekend, scheduled to arrive in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

Adrein Strickland OT at So. Ala has entered the portal. He has started the last two years. He would be a redshirt Junior.

He would measurably improve my forecast on this defense. Though run defense seemed iffy in the spring game due to hold outs for injuries, I really think the secondary - particularly corner - is the weakness of this defense that will get exploited this Fall without drop-in starter transfers.

That’s about right. Need another good corner but the DL can’t be judged we were missing everyone.

Not many teams have a 1st and 2nd rounder in their backfield

We have zero depth at corner and yeah, we could start a true freshman at corner but that’s a big risk. Apparently the staff agrees we need at least one more CB, so there’s that.

Nope but it doesn't change that our field corner options are two freshmen. Getting good experience at that position would be huge.

We have a transfer and four freshman. We had seven graduate or transfer out, so there are definitely spots to fill for someone with experience.
