Let's all remember he hired a guy in football that not only hadn't been HC, he hadn't been a coordinator. Regardless of what you think of Pitt, that is the definition of a failed coaching search.

I was looking at the Arkansas reddit and some said he was trying to get the Phoenix Suns job and SMU. He was looking to get out as early as December 2022.
I would had more respect for him had he stayed and not ran from his problems but this comes off as cowardly. This is why I respect Nolan so much.

Chad Morris was a HC and a OC before he came here. Your logic is bad. I say that as someone who openly cheered for Mizzou hoping to get Pitt fired.

Huh? I never said hiring a HC/OC/DC is a guarantee of success.
I said if you don't you failed your search as an AD.
That also doesn't mean the position coach you hired couldn't pan out. If he does, you failed your way into a bowl of lucky charms.

The metric used don't fit a failed search. I think Pitt was a great hire at the time and has a .500 record on getting a wining season which is going to be a good average for us going forward. It was time for him to go after this season but all that "NWA money" suddenly didn't exist when we needed it.
Is everyone freaking out because Beard announced he was staying at OM? I get that it's kind of disappointing but there is nothing but a bunch of rumors right now and the job has only been open 48 hours.
I don't see anything at this point to prove HY has fricked this up. There are plenty of coaches interested in being here. If we make a shite hire by all means burn it down but right now nothing has happened and people are melting like we just hired some unknown assistant.

HY repeatedly gets his arse handed to him in these searches.
I'm not panicking because we'll likely get a good coach in Wade (luckily Hunter won't have to compete with anyone serious for him).

Definitely think both are true.
Biggest problem if he had this much heads up, he should have been making moves long ago.

I think not liking HY makes people have this opinion of him. The only major hires he has made are Pitt and Muss. Muss ended up being a home run.
I think Pitt was a good hire too. We were the laughing stock of the nation. Nobody wanted to come here to coach football. He found a guy who did and made us somewhat respectable again. Certainly better than when he was hired. This is a basketball search not a football one. Way too many chicken littles (not specifically pointing at you sultan) acting like this is football where we have to beg a decent coach to come here.
We are a legit top 20 if not top 15 basketball job. There will be a ton of interest. Everyone got Beard and Wade locked in their head like they are the only two capable coaches in the country. Honestly I don't really care for Wade, especially with his baggage. Beard would have been ok but he is risky and bad publicity as well.
Point is: HY knocked it out of the park and got a coach that brought us back to the level we expect last time he made a BB hire. No reason to think he can't do that again.

It's like this on every coaching search. It's ridiculous.
Also, reading through the posts the last couple of days, it seems we've hit the point where we'll see all the hog on hog fights in here now.

This whole process has yet again been a complete shite show. If we end up hiring Buzz Williams, that is a complete desperation hire and HY should be fired. Under no circumstances should Buzz Williams even be considered for the job.

I think buzz is a weird goober but he is qualified. He has been to 4 sweet 16's and an elite 8 and makes the tournament almost every year. That would be the safe high floor pick.

Hard to argue with any of this. Literally no one wanted the football job when pitt took it and we can argue maybe we stuck with him too long at this point, but Hunter likely felt he owed him slack after stepping into that shitshow. I can't even remember some of the shitty names that turned us down and now we could actually hire a respectable coach again for football if needed.
Muss was a home run hire and yes it ended sour but he brought us back to national relevance.
Funny thing is, a LOT of fans hated BOTH hires at the time. Basketball will be fine no matter who we settle on. The dark days are over

He has won 3 tournament games in the last 11 years. We fired Mike Anderson for basically the same results.
