There's no secret. Uconn is just a really solid team. Gotta make shots and hope they don't.
All 3 of their losses were when they scored under 70 points.
They also had close calls against St. Johns (69-65) and Villanova (66-65).
That's not really Bama's style. The only game that's a blue print for success was St. John's in the Big East Tournament. But even in that game UConn won 95-90 and shot 50% from 3, made 90+% of their FTs and only had 10 TOs.
They're pretty much the basketball equivalent of prime Bama football. They don't beat themselves and are very, very good. Maybe we can be South Carolina cirac 2010.

Rain down 3's at a rate above 50% and hope UCONN has an off night shooting 3's. That is what happened to them against Kansas and Creighton. They really have almost no weaknesses. And they play as hard as any team you will find.

I just watched the 30-0 run that uconn had vs Illinois. Illinois had a lot of break downs on defense. Failed to get back, out of position several times...I wasn't impressed with Illinois defense.

UConn shot 39% from 3 against Kansas but they did struggle against Creighton from 3.

Keep Pringle in the starting lineup. Bring Wrightsell off the bench for Griffen or Estrada. The offense seems to be flowing a little better as is. Pecking order for 3 point shots is more natural. If this lineup can continue to click, and we can bring Wrightsell, Stevenson, Walters, and Dioubate in for quality minutes, we absolutely have a chance against UConn.

UCONN has a solid team...unbeatable, no! They have the advantage inside, but we have the advantage outside. I think it's going to be a good game as long as we are decent from the 3 point line. We have to hit our free throws. Our team is peaking, lets hope we havent peaked.

I think the Saban strategy of just focusing on the next play is the most important mental aspect of this game. The players are good enough to score some but UCONN is going to win more defensive possessions than most teams and hit more shots and have more runs. They’ve just got to play out every defensive possession against this intricate offense to their best ability, forget about what happened, and go do it again the next time down the court.
UCONN’s combination of skill and high execution discourages most of their opponents. Can’t be discouraged if you just embrace the NEXT mentality. Illinois lost that game due to mentality as much as approach. They lost faith in the first 5 minutes of the second half and it snowballed.

My favorite example of this was against UNC. Bacot slams down a dunk. Their team, crowd and announcers are going nuts. Meanwhile Bama is already down the court and Griffen pulls up for a 3 barely 5 seconds later.

We've done an incredible job answering momentum plays and shutting down runs this tournament, especially late in games.

Exactly! UCONN made Illinois quit because that team was frustrated with nothing working at the start of the second half. Alabama can't let that happen to them. Keep on clawing. If it goes good, keep grinding. If it goes bad, keep grinding. The staff has given them much better plans in the tournament too...just listen to the coaching, listen to your teammates, and block all the other noise out.

I say no. We miss layups when there isn't an elite big man waiting... and I'm pretty sure the refs are going to swallow their whistles if Bama drives into the paint.
I say rain the 3s unless it's a fast break opportunity and crash the boards for offensive rebounds and second chance points. I think driving into the paint will be wasted possessions.

Wonder if Oats is going to hit up Petino for advice on how to tackle UConn? He has a good relationship with him and has sought him for advice before.

This gonna hurt UCONN. Fly in middle of the day then attend media and then practice and they're likely gonna be tired Saturday.
