I haven't watched a minute of their games. What are the keys to beating them? They shot awful from 3 last game out do we need to go zone a little?

Which guys do we need to worry the most about? Do we have the players to stop them defensively?

Would assume a similar gameplan to the one used against UNC. Double team their big and hope they keep up their terrible shooting from the outside.

They are 25/89 combined from 3 point range in their tournament games.

Rebound and shoot the lights out. They lost to seton hall who isn’t even a tournament team and got boat raced by Creighton. They’re a great team and playing great basketball, but our team last year had more raw talent than this UConn team. They aren’t immortal by any stretch.

I don’t think we can afford to start slow though. A UNC start where we turn it over half a dozen times or a Clemson start where the shots aren’t falling, they might walk away with it. I remember when we played them last year, I didn’t think we played poorly, UConn just made a lot of tough baskets. They’re capable of that. Which means we need to play clean and efficient and with a lot of effort.

1. Pray

2. Rain 3s on every possession and hit the offensive boards hard. Forget driving into the paint for layups.

This game won't be nearly as nerve wracking as last night. Just drop 3s like a MFer from start to finish and let the chips fall where they may.

Nelson stepping out and hitting a couple early 3s would help a lot by bringing Clingan out of the paint.

Alabama has gotten good play out of their front court in the tournament. This is the biggest challenge of the season. They've got to win on the boards and limit multiple shots.

Alabama needs 20+ 3pt makes. Reality is that Alabama will likely struggle to shoot a high percentage in the paint, so they're going to have to make up for it with 3pt makes. This will likely extend UCONN's defense and open up some opportunities for layups and backdoor cuts when the rim protectors step up.

Frankly, Alabama gotta play good enough on defense to not let UCONN get in a rhythm. Maybe if they don't give up anything easy, UCONN will oblige them with a poor shooting night.

We're either going to lose like expected or pull off an all-timer of an upset. It's going to be a long fricking week.

Yeah, I think trying to get them spread out some is important. Also make the big dude run as much as possible.

Score more points.

They are a very well coached team. Long, athletic.

Have to play the absolute best game of the year. Uconn has been up 30+ on each team in the ncaat.

It's not like we can analyze last year's game against them, they crushed us then.

Disclaimer - I am not a basketball X and O strategist - but I do have some appreciation for the mental toughness of this Bama team - I expect Oats will have the team run the normal offense with the confidence that they can win the game straight-up - take any/all open 3s and attack the rim - radically changing the offense for UConn sends a message of desperation and affects Bama's psyche' - play hard, play smart and try to make UConn play Bama's game - if the score is within 5 either way with less than 5 minutes to go, I expect Bama to win - and so do the coaches and players - mental toughness and disciplined, relentless execution - if that ain't enough, congrats to UConn - but the pressure is on UConn - Bama should be loose and confident - any way Bama wins is great, as is any loss where Bama plays well and just gets outplayed - RTR.

I would be more worried if our offense was the typical pre-oats variety. We also need someone to get in a verbal argument with Hurley.

Have the keys to their team bus so they can't get to the arena so they have to forfeit.

Pull their bigs out of the paint.

If we do that, it opens up everything we want to do. I don't think we have to make 20 threes (obviously, it would be nice), but we can't have an off night shooting.

Uconn is good, but the hype is over the top. They're deservedly the favorite, but Bama CAN beat them.

While I agree, UConn is VERY efficient on offense. Their motion offense, flex screens, backdoor cuts are very difficult to defend. Of course, Alabama will have to shoot very well from 3 -point range, but we will also have to limit the impact of 1 of 3 players...Karaban, Spencer, or Clingan. Clingan is what he is. It's Karaban and Spencer that really worry me. Both of those players can hit 3's and drive.
