Interesting that it took them over a year to charge him with a double homicide. Something about this does not smell right.

I don't think it's unusual for a DA to wait until they have a solid case before going to the Grand Jury.

What were they waiting on? Known boyfriend and the baby died Feb 27 of 2033.

Eta: I’m not disagreeing I’m just honestly surprised also it took that long.

Are we sure this wasn't an attempted abortion gone massively wrong? Horrible regardless.

ETA: And for the downvoters that never actually address anything - poisoning isn't typically how men kill. But chemicals are indeed used to abort fetuses. Killing the kid could've been his intention.

True enough. If I recall, Ted Bundy was at one point in law school.

He was but the truth was that the law school that accepted him had only just opened and he really wasn't smart enough to be there. There's a documentary on Prime that goes into him pretty well. Ted was smart and charismatic but not nearly as smart as he thought he was. That's usually the downfall of psychopaths though - their narcissism does them in.

I tend to agree that it's more likely that he was just trying to kill the baby. She lost the baby shortly after she went to the hospital. She herself didn't die for about ten days. He's still a subhuman piece of shite. AND a double murderer.*

Pretty much. It's got a "I read how to do this over the internet and bought shady stuff" kinda feel to it.

Never ceases to amaze me the lengths people will go to get out of paying child support.

Does that really make it any better? He only wanted to kill the 5 month old fetus, not the mom. My bad guys….

She obviously didn’t want an abortion, who knows how it all went down. He’s still a pos.

Nothing makes it better but it might explain things a bit, especially since poisoning is such a rare way for men to kill anyone. Poisoning, unless you're on Putin's shite list, tends to be a woman's method of murder.

That was my initial thought. And if that isn’t what he was actually attempting, I bet it becomes his defense.

Risky. In Tennessee code, a viable fetus is treated as a person regarding being the victim of a homicide. So he’d be admitting to first degree murder if the fetus was viable.

Depending on the age of the fetus it won't be much defense. I think even when a fetus can be aborted legally he'd have no defense because it would've been forced and treated no differently than a stranger harming a pregnant woman and fetus. He'd have to claim that she drank an abortifacient herself without his knowledge and get the jury to believe it. As high profile as his father is in this state, I don't think they'd bring charges if there was any evidence to support that.
