Auburn. The atmosphere at JHS is better than BDS & Bama typically plays better on the road.

Imagine posting this…

quote:

I didn't say just to Auburn. I said it as a top team. Bama is hit or miss aside from 2 coaches.

literally the next post after…

quote:

Kentucky 39-2-1. 93%
Mississippi State 86-18-3. 84%
Ole Miss 55-10-2. 82%
Arkansas 24-8-0. 75%
Vandy 60-19-4. 72%
Florida 27-14-0. 65%
LSU 56-27-5. 64%
Georgia 43-26-4. 59%
Auburn 50-37-1. 57%
Tennessee 59-39-7. 56%

Alabama has a losing record against… zero teams they have played on a regular basis. And that covers a hell of a lot more coaches than just Saban and Bryant.

Here is Auburn’s all time record and win percentage against the teams above (with Alabama’s win percentage against them in parenthesis for comparison).

Kentucky 27-6-1. 79% (93% Alabama)
Mississippi State 66-29-2. 68% (84% Alabama)
Ole Miss 35-12. 74% (82% Alabama)
Arkansas 20-12-1. 61%. (75% Alabama)
Vandy 22-21-1. 50%. (72% Alabama)
Florida 43-39-2. 51%. (65% Alabama)
LSU 24-33-1. 41%. (64% Alabama)
Georgia 56-64-8. 44%. (59% Alabama)
Tennessee 29-22-3. 54%. (56% Alabama)

This is just brutal. Alabama has a better winning percentage than Auburn in every single matchup.

you take every school's top 2 coaches away, Bama still has more success then everyone else in college football with the possible exception of Notre Dame.

You may be correct, but if you remove Bryant and Saban, Bama is 527-261-34. Winning percentage drops to 67 excluding games that ended in a tie.

Still impressive, but I’m not sure how that stacks up with the other blue bloods.

Now that Saban is gone it makes no difference.

If it’s just about getting the easier win, now that DeBoer is coach I’d say Bama depending on who they hire in 2027. I’m not trolling, DeBoer was a panic hire and won’t last very long. It’s going to be a rough few seasons.

For entertainment though, I’d probably say Bama this year then Auburn every year after this year. Like I said, Auburn has more upside and just seems like it’ll be a more important game. Bama’s already having leadership issues and their recruiting is going to plummet once they get 3 or 4 losses this season.

Michigan has more total wins than Alabama. Their record is 1004-353-36. That is a 72% winning percentage. Their two most successful coaches are Bo Schembechler and Lloyd Carr. If you remove them, Michigan is 688-265-31. Their win percentage is 69.9%. Slightly better than Alabama, but still less than 70%

I can. auburn needs Bama to stay relevant. Bama doesn't need them. I'd rather play anyone else than let them get a sure national televised game and unwarranted attention by riding our coat-tails.

Congrats! If you are happy winning 40% of your games, who am I to argue with you?

Keep one permanent rival.

For Bama it would be the barn

Georgia/Florida is a natural fit, as is Ole Miss and Miss St.

Some would get a bit messy like trying to figure out who gets Arkansas cause at least 3 teams will want them, and what to do with Vandy because a regular doormat really isn’t anyone’s rival. Maybe Vandy/South Carolina?

You hired Deboer. So much for that elitism.

Now that Saban is gone,...Bama. A traditional LSU opponent as we have played them every year since 1964. Not so with Auburn

Alabama vs Kentucky all-time is insane.

But it's not just Bama that Kentucky can't beat. Their overall record vs Tennessee and Florida is nearly as bad, and vs LSU is only slightly better.

Kentucky is a basketball school, and they're located in the Midwest. Their presence in the SEC just doesn't make sense to me

Auburn. History and a much better away game environment.

"Permanent" is a long, long time.
I realize that the simple minded can't comprehend the true meaning of the word, so we'll all just "overlook" the little perceptual mistake.

Just for your information:
Georgia against Auburn: 63-56.....529 winning %
Georgia against Alabama:26-43..................604 losing %

Even a dim wit should be able to figure that out.

There's no great reason to think that Freeze won't do well at Auburn.

Hugh Freeze and his spread concepts hit the SEC about the same time Gus took control of the barn. They both immediately got the Chip Kelly effect. Meaning, that it was all still brand new and very hard to defend., Today, so many SEC teams have not only caught up with the offensive scheme but are running the same concepts. Including ALABAMA.

Hugh Freeze just finished 6-7 and had half his staff fired and the other half quit, including legacy coach and all-around mascot, Cadillac Williams.

Until he shows he can duplicate Ole Miss's success I'd wait on crowning him.
