Would you rather your team have Auburn or Alabama as a permanent opponent?

There's no great reason to think that Freeze won't do well at Auburn. He beat prime Nick Saban 2 years in a row with an SEC poor, which seriously is one of the greatest SEC coaching accomplishments of all time. Freeze has also woken up all of the boosters. Auburn already had the best infrastructure for paying players for years, and now paying players is legal.
Alabama meanwhile hires someone who looks and feels like Bryan Harsin. Yeah Deboer coached in a national championship game. But so did Gus Malzhan and Gene Chizik.
Personally I'm thinking it's a good time for Auburn to come off the schedule as one of Georgia's permanent opponents. I'd much rather my team have to deal with Whole Foods Harsin than Hugh Freeze for the foreseeable future.

I’d rather have Bama. AU offers little competition

There should be NO permanent rivalries. All teams should rotate through each other. Most fair way.

As long as we get our usual easy win over Georgia, who cares.

Tenn/Bama
Bama/Aub
UGA/UF
UGA/Aub
Ole Miss/Miss St
Tenn/Vandy
These games are as old as the SEC and should NEVER go away.

Auburn. Much better tailgating/game day experience.

Just a glance at the last 10-12 years, if I were a UGA fan I’d want AU To remain a permanent opponent over Bama as well.

Have both. Damn Big 12 teams coming into the conference and messing up SEC traditions.

Auburn is a rival. I still want UGA to keep playing them.
Bama isn't. Playing them a couple of times every 5 years going forward is fine.

A 9-game football schedule is coming. The SEC will do a 6 + 3 schedule if we do not grow the conference again in 2025.
Bama - LSU, Tenn, & Aub
Aub - Georgia, Bama, Vandy
Bama - LSU, Tenn, & Aub

Probably not gonna happen.
Bama- State, UT, Aub is more likely. One team getting THREE of the Big 6 just isn't likely. The "Saban Bowl" thing is dead. CBS and LSU played that up past the point of being ridiculous.

If you want traditional rivalries, don't keep expanding. It's a simple concept. If the SEC feels adding Texas and Oklahoma is more important than maintaining the Egg Bowl, then the Iron Bowl should be on the chopping block too.
To me, it's not a valid conference if you don't get a home/away with every opponent, during the stretch of a 4 year career.
You want to keep permanent opponents, then form a conference alliance with another conference.

I'm sorry that LSU does not have the tradition of a major conference rivalry.
We're not willing to lose ours because you don't have one.

The best college rivalry I have ever watched was the Oklahoma-Nebraska game. That's gone.
You're not going to lose your rivalries, they just won't be annual. They should be, but we've gone and made the conference too big to continue that. Now, in a few years we might see it revived, if the conference splits into East/West, tossing LSU and the Miss schools into the West with Texas, OU, A&M, Arkansas and Missouri. That way, you get Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Vandy, Kentucky and SC in the East.

I hope Alabama and LSU continue to play. It's my favorite game of the year.
That SEC CG still hurts I see?

In an odd way, I tend to think it makes the matchup more special.
I would like for Bama and Auburn to mix up the every year Iron Bowl as well.

Stop being a pussy! We're Georgia. Anybody-Anytime!

I think we can all agree on one thing. Sex outside of the family will always be a permanent opponent of both fan bases.

OP, that's a great question but the answer is Auburn "and its not even close."
