Dang for the athletic to make me stand up for USUC, but they were a pretty dang strong basketball team when they were in the ACC. Frank Mcguire, I think started it. He would recruit NY city for their guards. Excuse me while I go throw-up ...

I know UF is kind of tricky to rank historically, but seems we should be no lower than that tier 3 group.

There's nothing tricky at all, we're #3 historically in the SEC at minimum. Obviously UK is #1.

That Gator team with Horford and Noah was fun to watch. College ball teams were so much better back then.

I know, but when they try to do these historical rankings UF is sometimes seriously undervalued. Like in this instance. If someone is putting a list like this together and sees a program as successful as Florida this far down, they should go back to the drawing board.

UK is obviously far and away #1 in the SEC. And I could see the argument for Arkansas even though we have an extra title. But Tennessee? Seriously?

NCAA titles
UF: 2 (both won in the 64 team era)
Vols: 0

NCAA regional titles
UF: 5 (all won in the 64 team era)
Vols: 0

NCAA tourney wins
UF: 48
Vols: 25

UK and then Florida and Arkansas jostling around.

I'd put LSU next to be honest. With no insult intended to the Vols.

That’s a pretty horrible ranking. Gonzaga in a tier alone with only two final fours and no national titles? Dumb.

Florida in the same tier as Alabama, Auburn, and Missouri? Dumb

Non national title winning programs in the same tier as Arkansas and Michigan? Dumb

And yet that is enough to rank over a school with:
9 Elite 8s
5 Final 4s
1 national runner up
2 national championships

Makes no sense

I presume you're referring to Florida being below Tennessee?

Bama has more conference titles and wins. LSU has more tournament success. Depends on what you're looking at.

It’s college basketball. Tournament success is what matters. This list is a joke, and not just because Bama is ranked ahead of LSU.

Yep. Florida should at least be in T3. They have a better resume than Memphis.

Florida:
2 NC, 1 runner up, 5 final fours, 9 elite 8. 21 appearances (2 vacated)

Memphis:
1 runner up (1 vacated), 1 final four (2 vacated), 4 elite 8 (2 vacated), 22 appearances (6 vacated).

Even if you add in the Memphis vacated appearances then the only thing Memphis really would lead in is appearances at 28 to 23.

Alabama belongs ahead of Tennessee.

Auburn is ranked way to high. Historically the 2nd or 3rd worst program, with Ole Miss and Georgia being the other 2 culprits.

Florida ranked too low.

Not hating on Vandy, but how are they on any tier?

There have been 109 different teams make it to at least the Elite 8 since Vandy last made it that far, including these illustrious programs: Cal State Fullerton, Idaho State, Navy, Penn, Rhode Island, and VMI.

Michigan has 75 more wins than Alabama all time in football but Alabama has all the hardware. You gotta win when it matters in CBB and Alabama has struggled in doing that.

This list is trash...Tenn never been to Final 4 and Florida has 2 fricken titles BACK TO BACK, LSU's been to multiple final 4's while bama can't crack the elite 8 .... C'mon man

Or Bama ahead of LSU?

I guess they're looking at the actual history of the programs. LSU had a handful of good runs in the NCAA tournament, but historically, they're FAR behind Alabama in winning %, head to head, and conference tournaments, etc. Alabama has a 32 game lead in the head to head, for example.

LSU hangs their hat on some Final Fours, but the fact is that they have only once in the entire history of the program ever won any kind of post season tournament. and that was an SEC tourney 45 years ago.

They have squandered more top tier talent than most schools will ever have. They do a lot of bloviating for a team that basically never actually wins anything.

If you want to be ranked higher, go actually win something. Florida is the school that should complain about their ranking here. They have actually won the SECT and the NCAAT.

We both know you would trade this to witness multiple final 4 runs. I should also mention for all that nonsense about winning percentage we have the exact same amount of NCAAT appearances all time and y’all have 1 more conference title all time.

let's just go ahead and blow this frickin myth all to "bits of orange pieces under the basket" right the frick now -

one of these programs has been ranked #1 in its history

one of these programs has won an ACC championship

one of these programs won its first-ever road basketball in Chapel Hill in the 1920's - not the 2020's -

one of these programs has been to a Final Four -

one of these programs had led the all-time series between the two since before World War 1 -

it's the program that has also won the Southeastern Conference in basketball, too -
