Question for longhorn football fans

Why does your AD have such a desire to play on Thanksgiving?
If you poll the Aggie fanbase you would find that the vast majority are happy to continue playing a quality program, LSU as our last game. We would fit you into our schedule wherever it falls out.
We understand ESPN told the SEC to make the switch for TV ratings, but why play on Thursday when we already have the Egg Bowl and 3 NFL games?
Makes no sense, and don't tell me it is a tradition. This game has been played on Thanksgiving weekend rather than Thanksgiving day many times.
This ain't "getting the band back together" nostalgia day.

Not so sure we want to play on turkey day...rather play Fri or Sat...there are lots of opinions on exactly which day.

I'm hopeful LSU is a permanent rival. Travel time for sure, but LSU the culture down there etc... can't wait.

Yeah I wouldn't want to get beat in the last regular season game either, let alone losing to an in state school for the last regular season game. Talk about a mess for in state recruiting for A&M.

Makes no sense, and don't tell me it is a tradition. This game has been played on Thanksgiving weekend rather than Thanksgiving day for most of the series.
FWIW I personally prefer to have the game Friday or Saturday for purposes of juggling family arrangements, but to say it was played on a day other than Thanksgiving a majority of the time is patently false

As an LSU fan, I’d prefer to end the season with a quality opponent too. But we’ve been stuck with aTm instead.

I actually prefer Thanksgiving Day. It’s what I grew up with.

Texas AD loves to copy us.
Didn't like his old conference. Had to join the SEC.
Now that you're in the SEC...you want to copy the Egg Bowl?
People in Texas are already circle jerking and playing swords over the Cowboys on Thanksgiving....why do you need another game?

In all fairness, the Egg Bowl has been played on Thanksgiving 23 times.
The A&M/tu game has been played on Thanksgiving 61 times.

Doesn't NFL have 3 games on Thanksgiving now? Seems dumb for a university to want to schedule a game to compete with that.

This is bigger than our personal preferences. The networks see the Texas/A&M rivalry and think money. They'll have us play whenever they think it will generate the most $.

You really think a HS senior would base his decision on 1 game at the end of the year? Dayum. I thought all the jokes about Texas fans were just, well, jokes.

To think it wouldn't have an affect is laughable. Yeah top recruits definitely want to go to the school that gets beat every year by another in state school.

You will find they are great at copying. Even copied their team name from the old name of the Texas A&M yearbook "The Longhorn".
They really need to learn to start accepting disappointment for they face a lot of that in the SEC.

You’ll play us when we tell you to?

You will play us where we tell you to!
In all honesty, I doubt they will actually move the game to turkey day. It would not be in the SEC's interest to compete with the other games being played that day.
