Anyone ever been to an AU hockey game? My crew went to the Oklahoma/Bama game yesterday and had a great time. We went to support our cousin who is on the OU staff (AU grad).
The crowd was light, only about 150 people in a 5000+ seat arena in Pelham, AL. I'm guessing not a lot of people are aware AU & Bama have hockey teams. I hope that changes. The game was awesome. No showboating, no million dollar egos, just guys that love the sport battling it out. OU came back from a 4-1 deficient to win 5-4.
The teams don't fall under NCAA guidelines, which may be a good thing. According to their schedule, AU will be playing in the Pelham Civic Center 3/22--3/24. I definitely wanna try to make the AU games next season.

They’ve had a team at Auburn for awhile.
I was there in the 1980s and the guy in the apartment across from at Tamarack played on the hockey team. He was from Long Island, NY

Wow, I had no idea they went back that far.
Yeah, there were a lot of northerners on both teams yesterday.

Yeah AU hockey is a club level sport. Some of the SEC has club level baseball teams no one is aware of. What’s interesting is they can’t use the campus facilities but most are completely fully funded by the university.

We have Club men’s soccer and probable a few other sports. Eventually, I see golf, tennis, etc teams not being sanctioned sports in the long term future. They all lose tons of money.
