Play more efficiently. It's an efficiency ranking. There is no resume component to it like there is in the NET

We have beat two top 10 teams so there's that..

Play a bunch of top 20 out of conference opponents to start the season.

State's RPI and NET are both in the 30s.
State has had one of the toughest SEC schedules to date. Played all of the top seven and only one against the bottom 7.
That will change some the second half of the SEC season. If State doesn't win more, the RPI and NET will drop.
Unfortunately, State has to play 5 of the top 7 again (plus #8), so the schedule isn't that much easier.
I don't know why USCs are lower. All they do is win this season. Is USC's RPI good?

5 of the top 10 are sub-top 100 in NCSOS:
#1 Houston - NCSOS 215th (52nd SOS overall)
#3 UCONN - NCSOS 275th (51st SOS overall)
#5 Auburn - NCSOS 148th (72nd SOS overall)
#9 BYU - NCSOS 312th (78th SOS overall)
#10 Illinois - NCSOS 238th (43rd SOS overall)
By contrast, 4 of the top 10 are also top 10 in overall SOS:
#2 Purdue - SOS 1st
#4 Arizona - SOS 3rd
#6 Tennessee - SOS 7th
#8 Alabama - SOS 4th
Food for thought.

I mean we're 4-2 vs Quad 1 teams and 3-0 vs Quad 2. It's not like we're only stacking wins against terrible opponents and floundering against better competition.

Baw, your act is so old and played out. Just stop or call Larry Glover like your boy Chris.

KenPom is not about your wins and losses. So need to stop providing win loss data in KenPom threads.

It’s not an opinion, it’s a metric.

I would imagine South Carolina's KenPom issue is:
74-64 Home vs VMI (1-18 NET 361)
73-68 N vs Depaul (3-18 NET 320)
65-53 H Notre Dame (NET 181)
68-62 N East Carolina (NET 196)
72-62 H Winthrop (NET 174)
73-69 H Charleston Southern (NET 318)
That's a lot of games, most at home, where an efficiency based rating system has South Carolina very close to even with some pretty bad teams.
If you look at Alabama, just for example, where people point to the tough scheduling -- and it does help to lose by 2 points to NET #1 on a neutral floor -- another big difference you see is that the home games against sub-150 NET teams mostly have scores like 102-46 and 111-67.
If more of South Carolina's looked like their 22 point home win over G. Washington (NET 163) these SOS adjusted efficiency numbers would look a whole lot better.
The bright side is that KenPom / NET is just one of many things the committee considers and like you post, South Carolina has a great resume by all other measures.

Kenpom is an analytic model based on how efficient your team is offensively and defensively. It has nothing to do with your win loss record. If you want better Kenpom numbers you have to be more efficient on both ends.
I still remember my coach telling me as a kid, it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose, it’s whether or not an algorithm determines you to have been efficient.

Good thing actual champions are determined by wins then. I'm not sure why some of you are so upset with an efficiency model that is only based on numbers and is really only used to weed out borderline teams in a field of 68.

These latest KenPom rankings are a prime example of Predictive Programming.

It's true Ole Miss has a couple bad losses, (always embarrassing to lose to Auburn)
You didn’t ‘lose’ to Auburn, you had the ever loving schitt kicked outta you. At one point I was thinking “Auburn is having issues with rotation against these guys’, then I realized I was 64-31. Beard was picking his nose five minutes into the second half, and Bruce was looking for someone whiter that the white boys on the bench to come outta the stands and play.

If you don't see the deficiencies of this team, then I don't know what to tell you. We are legit bad for all the talent we have.
You should discuss with with Jones and Lemond and see if they agree with each other.

At 18-3 OM is a borderline tournament team at the moment. I believe Joe has you as a 9 seed. It will take some good wins in conference play to get OM in
