In a few years, fans of other teams may not be laughing as they are now.

Come on dude. He was 12-6 at Fresno St. Without Penix they lose 4 games.
They didn’t score an offense TD against a 3-9 Arizona St team and almost lost.
His end of game clock managing was horrific at times. He was totally out-coached against Michigan and brought in a team who was confused and not prepared then took a beat down in the biggest game of his career. This guy is the one replacing Nick Saban? I get it you’re a Bama fan and I understand your hope. However there’s a reason so many players left the program after meeting with him. Have you heard the guy in interviews? Bama will be good but not great and this experiment will be over in three years and you know it.

I did not say there was not risk but folks a lot smarter about football than you or I had Deboer on their radar. Two guys who had head coach jobs agreed to take a step back and join his staff. I watched as they did this wrong previous and tried to hold on to the old. He has some recruiting muscle for the first time and the lure of playing at Alabama to get better players than he ever had in his previous jobs, He brought Washington to a national championship and even though he lost that one big he got there and beat Texas once and Oregon twice in the process. Penix believes so strongly in Deboer he called Ryan Williams to help recruit him back to Bama for Deboer. His next big QB at Washington followed Deboer to Alabama to wait a year behind Milroe even though Mack could have started for someone next year.

It was a risk no matter who they hired but I trust Greg Byrne and Nick Saban that Deboer brings the best odds.
