I’ve been an Auburn basketball since my freshman year in 1990. We have never had sustained success like this. Bruce’s teams play hard and I’ve never seen years long stretches where I expected to go to the NCAA until Pearl took over.

There are few school who can match the success Auburn has had over the last 8 years.

I don’t think Bruce Pearl does the player development but he hires the guys who do and oversees it. Our players get better year to year and then throughout the year. Just look at Broome, he was good last year but nowhere near as good as he is this year.

Think of the development of KD, Tre, Cardwell, JW, and now we are seeing it with Chaney.

If CBM comes back I expect him to be a monster next year and the same for Aiden H.

Win or lose today we have had one of the better season in Auburn history.

There are 12-16 teams who have a legit shot to win the NCAA this year and Auburn is in that group. That’s all you can ask for in a sport that crowns a champion at the end of a crazy, single elimination tournament.

We have 7 SEC championships since 1928 and Bruce has 3 of them with the possibility of adding another today.

This is the “Good Old Days” of Auburn Basketball.

Oh, and our team looks pretty good for next year as well. We should again be in the mix and a NCAA tournament team. And if we aren’t then Pearl will fix it.

Pearl has created en environment where the players play hard, but also enjoy playing basketball. Those guys are having fun and it shows. This is not easy to sustain the way Pearl has.
