Don’t let the door hit you in the arse on the way out.
Trust fund fans, haven’t been through tough times. We’ve got a pretty manageable schedule with a coach who has performed well everywhere he’s been.
If it’s 8-4 the board pussies will think the sky has fallen, it hasn’t.
We’re going to lose more talent to the portal, we’re going to not recruit as well. This is what happens when the GOAT retires. Been there, done that. If you were there when Bryant retired you’re thankful at where Saban has left us.
It worked out, this will too. I’m looking forward to see if DeBoer has what it takes to be the next GOAT Alabama football produces.

I stopped watching in 2020 on principle, it was easy to see what was coming tbh. People were naive.

Lol. There was a lot of, uh, “venting” going on the last week or so. We should probably treat it like the Scoreboard forum on a football Saturday and just flush it and give everyone a fresh start.

Ill never criticize people being frustrated with this system, even if they are just lashing out

It was 2021 for me. Nick F around with Billingsley from game one of the 2021 seemed way off.

Is college supposed to benefit students or overzealous alumni?
quote:
These players are nothing more than guns for hire and aren’t even loyal to their teammates. They see dollar signs and split.
Everyone splits over money. Ask Jake at State Farm if he would go to Alfa for a million dollars.
I don’t know why everyone expects players to have this unwavering, storm-the-beach loyalty to a college football program that would be happy to replace them with someone better at any moment.
If you could replace Bond with clones of Julio, Smith, and Cooper, would you do it? frick yeah.
quote:
Isaiah Bond became an Alabama legend with his catch in the Iron Bowl. He would have never had to pay for a meal in Birmingham or Tuscaloosa ever again. Now he’s on his way to play for a rival SEC school.
And if he gets drafted higher due to playing with a better passer and offensive mind, I am sure he will be okay without free meals in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham.

ESPN has ruined the sport as have these other networks that have injected hundreds of millions of dollars into the sport.
It’s good for the players, which are who college is supposed to benefit.

Until that reform comes, I am out.
No, you’re not.

If CFB just went down this path full speed ahead, it would implode. A bunch of checked out fans, empty stadiums and a game kept on life support by gamblers

It’s pro ball now. You can just watch the top pro league now - the NFL - like most people do.
Guess it’s mostly older fans who are able to adapt, we’ve seen change and tough times hit the sport. A lot of these trust funds fans just can’t cope.

I agree with everything you said but this. ESPN didn't ruin the sport, the greed of the schools did.
That's not true at all, it wasn't ESPN either. I think you guys must have missed the origin of this al, came from California and lawyers threatening to sue, first for NIL rights, after they sued via Ed Bannaon the UCLA player and EA Sports/College's and won many years ago. It was another THREAT that made the NCAA try to react, they reacted wrongly, thinking if we allow personal NIL, everything will be OK, no, we had Texas AM use it as a team, which everyone knew this would happen and start an arms race (so to speak) which is why I stated this 3-4 years ago.
All the stupid NCAA leaders had to do was use their "LEVERAGE" against these shady lawyers. The NCAA should have come out in 2019 or 2020 and stated, well as soon as these current scholarships are honored by our NCAA members, there will be no more scholarships, players who want to play CFB will have to fund their own way to college. We can't pass out scholarships anymore because Ambulance chasing lawyers want to sue us.
Of course that makes the Greedy Lawyers the villains and they would then have to come out and say, NO....do not quit giving these athletes (mostly black) scholarships, we promise we will not sue.
Instead the did the dumb thing, play these stupid lawyers games. They have no right to a scholarship, and also no right to gain any of the monies, these colleges spent monies for years building stadium, investing with zero profit, before CFB became profitable in the 1980s. Return on investment is a right. The players get paid what 50 K a year via a free scholarship, free training, free eats, free room and board, its 100 K a year. Twice as much as most common people make.
Instead the prostituted a great game.
