It’s eazy to be a fan when your team is riding the wave. Every dynasty ends eventually. Although I enjoyed all those championships I admit my interest over time dwindled. I understand it’s not realistic, but I enjoyed the teams of 2013- 2018 much more.

I think the rude awakening is how Uber broken our Nil deals are when we can’t even pony up dough to keep kids from ole Miss and auburn. If anything is broken it’s our NIL that needs a complete revamping and this proves it. Like it or not if this is the game then we ain’t getting the Alabama discount anymore.

There needs to be contract rules for NIL and 1 year transfer sit out time in the Transfer Portal.

Thoughts?

bullshite. Coach might have “plenty of time” but this ain’t about time it’s about money and apparently we can’t match what some other schools are willing to pay.

Texas has a partnership with Lamborghini of Austin, they will have players do "marketing" internships in return for a Lambo Urus'

Makes sense but the horse has left the barn. Anything that can be construed to interfere with the athlete’s ability to profit will be struck down. It’s over.

At every turn courts are shooting down any restrictions on transfers. It’s almost comical that every time the ncaa gets sued it loses. Do they have Kramers lawyer on retainer? lol

Sure, it that scenario. The much more likely scenario is:

UA: $800,000
Texas: $1M

I personally, would still play at UA with my teammates/friends/brothers

Question: do you guys think if we hired a more proven coach or maybe a more well known one he would've still left? Say Lanning for example? He has ties to Kirby and Saban, he is also a defensive minded guy. Just food for thought.

I don't get this spiel every time we have a transfer or lose a recruit. Alabama is estimated to have one of the top NIL collectives in college football. The two SEC Texas schools are far ahead of the field and nobody is catching up to all their extraction capital and defense contractor money. We're firmly in the same tier as UGA, OSU, etc.

Sure, sometimes Texas may come in and buy your 6ft-nothing slot receiver for 1m and lambo lease but mostly Alabama's competitors are playing in the same financial constraints. We lost Caleb Downs and most of these other kids since Saban's retirement due to the loss of relationships and allure that the grass is greener on the other side.

That was before the roster became completely out of sync.

Likely. It’s worth the cost to pull talent away from UA to collapse support. Just reading these threads you can see it’s already happening.

Same. After 2nd and 26, wasn’t sure there was anything left for me to be Uber excited about. Kinda feel like I’ve seen it all now.
Four fricking Heismans. Would have never even occurred to me growing up

It’s painfully obvious we don’t when we keep losing kids for fat stacks as reported.

Losing a future All-Pro and MAYBE bringing in a future fringe roster player is not a trade I'd prefer to be making.

It's not a trade. It's about bringing in a talented player. They don't even play the same position. Muhammad is not a fringe roster player at all. Just because you may not know who he is doesn't mean he isn't a good player.

People need to get their minds right for 8-4 being the optimistic take

That's just retarded. 8-4 remains the worst case scenario. Much worse than that and you're talking losses to teams like South Carolina.

I don't think any hire prevents this, personally.

Let's say UA NIL collective has $50M (random guess)

If every other school in the SEC ponies up $2M to steal a player, we can't compete. It's more about the damage to UA, and less about massive roster upgrades for others. We are competing with the entirety of college football to retain our players. Even UT couldn't handle that level of pressure.

So would I, I think.
Read recently in an article interviewing high school kids that a lot have taken less to play at their desired college.
But then a godawful amount of things can go wrong. Coaching changes, personality conflicts within the team…shite, an unforeseen cost back home. Lots of things.

JMO but I think Nick's task was to work with the Bama NIL advising them on which players to try and save with the dollars available.

There should be many more dollars now with so many gone. Take those savings and hit every remaining player with a bump today.

Byproduct of 2020...the worst year for the entire country in my lifetime all around. Knee jerk reactions to events that year are why we are here. I know these things were coming up before then, but the courts got the license to F everything up for "equity" in 2020.
