That would be caught with your pants down. And again, DeBoer would be giving a guy a job Saban wasn't willing to give him. Why is that?

Logically, who do you think would have a better idea if T-Rob can do the DC job at Bama?

How so? They literally met for the first time ever when he arrived at the facility. I don’t care if Saban himself said hire the guy, if it’s your show now you dot your i’s and cross you t’s.

Now I do believe this is a roster salvaging hire just as much as a DC position hire. So I’m not saying that it’s not. But the arguments that it should have been done immediately after arriving is dumb.

I’ll start by saying I don’t know if T. Rob is up to the job or not. Not trying to argue that either way. BUT to answer your question above, if Saban knew he was retiring, why would he promote someone to DC, just to have the new coach have to remake that decision a few days later?
