It’s about value. You don’t offer the dude with nowhere close to the same resume as the goat almost the same salary on an 8 year term. That’s next level desperation and if that’s how you think I’d want you nowhere near a negotiation table for a used car, let alone something this significant

I didn’t say fact I said it’s a source I trust and that person physically watched a man leave a plane last night and that man looked like Lanning. Apparently it wasn’t and that’s basically how I think the rumor started. It is what it is. Couldn’t be that simple.

I mean those are two entirely different things. I don’t care what the school’s profit margins are, I just want them to win football games, and to do that you need a top level coach, and if we have to shell out for one then we should do it. We have more than enough funds, and boosters with more money than they even need can contribute if they want us to stay at the top of the sport.

I, and many other people on this board, appreciate the info you give. I had really hoped it was Lanning. That was the one candidate I felt we had a shot at coming that could keep us on a championship path. I don’t think Kirby or Sark are people that would leave their current employment. But it would be great if we could get one of the two. I know Sexton represents a ton of people. Can anyone give a COMPLETE list of all coaches he represents?

I watched the interview, and while Lanning said he was committed to staying at Oregon, there was zero talk of an offer, much less that he turned one down. So again, we don't know if Lanning was even offered at this point.
