From Chris Low article on ESPN...

quote:

With Freeze taking over play-calling duties, the plan now is to move Kent Austin to quarterbacks coach after he served in a quality control role at Auburn in 2023 and special assistant to the head coach. Austin, a former quarterback at Ole Miss, was with Freeze at Liberty as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Austin previously worked in the CFL as a head coach and general manager and was also the Cornell head coach from 2010-12

If true, then it for sure sounds like the plan is to either find an off the field role for Cadillac or help him get another job/promotion, and then bring in Nix as OC/RB coach.

Offensive minded Auburn coach hires a good OC, OC doesn't mesh, coach fires OC and promotes his own guy from within (or, hires a guy to hold a clipboard), rinse and repeat.

From what I understand, Kent Austin is a pretty good quarterbacks coach -- it's just that the above process has become a little tiresome to me.
