Go back and watch the first play of the Rose Bowl. It epitomizes the reason we lost.

Milroe looking down field as the pocket collapses... protection terrible. But TE, has made his cut and is running free in the middle.
Milroe didn't even look at the hot route.

Same thing on the second one... etc.

Throw the ball Jalen. Easy pass and it's 2nd and 4.

Michigan wasn't even trying to cover our hot routs BECAUSE WE DONT USE THEM.

If he hits that te a couple of times, Michigan adjusts, those sacks don't happen and we have downfield opportunities and a more effective run game.

Do you not think that a competent QB coach could have had Milroe utilizing his hot routes in almost a year of coaching?

Can't this be simulated in practice?

That's my whole point. There is just basic shiit that isn't getting effectively taught.

Not if the QB cannot process what is going on in real time game speed. He gets stuck in one process and that is whatever the first option of the pay that is called. He cannot see the pressure coming, open WRs, or escape the pocket to scramble.

I don't know at this point. I doubt that this hasn't been covered repeatedly in practices. Some QB's never get past certain hurdles, for whatever reason. I've seen senior QB's that never learned to throw the ball away rather than take a sack, for example. Sometimes it takes a long time for "the light to come on", and the game to slow down for QB's.

What’s more likely here?

An extremely successful coach who has been around for decades isn’t ensuring his QB is being taught to read/use hot routes?

Or

The QB hasn’t grasped the ability to read/use the hot routes?

Milroe seems incapable of throwing to the outlet guys. Always trying to get it all on one play.

For instance that fumble. Make a damn decision and stick to it. If you're going to run, run like you're possessed. If you're going to throw to the WR... THROW IT.

Don't be double-minded, let the defender close then fumble because you're so damn unsure.
