Well, he coached LB at Missouri before he was DC. If you don’t know something, keep your mouth shut. You put something out there without doing any homework on it. Like they just up and fired Baker for no reason. Right.

I get that. But the reason that has been given in this thread for firing him was that the DC House also coached linebackers. So, was House DC and designated LB coach? Or did LSU hire a separate linebackers coach? If that was the case, why wouldn’t they have retained Baker?

Sorry, it just seems unusual. When was the last time a SEC program hired back a coach just two years after firing him?
I know all about Arkansas finally rehiring Petrino. But that was over a decade long saga, with five stops in between, that was responsible for hundreds of threads and oh so much drama. You have to expect people to raise their eyebrows when LSU turns around and rehires a guy before they even finish unpacking all their boxes. At least that will make the upcoming move easier. But I wonder if he will just keep it boxed up for awhile just in case.

My homework was asking on here. Because I, like most people, don’t keep up with all the position coaches at all SEC schools. Not many outside of LSU know a whole lot more than Kelly was hired, House was hired (and then fired), Baker was fired (and then rehired). And even when you look up a coaching resume, it doesn’t say anything about the real details of a hiring or firing unless it was due to scandal.

Kelly took a job with a program that shrimpman ran into the ground. He fired everyone except the OL coach and a secretary just for a clean start, and we had 2 straight 10 win seasons after struggling to make a bowl, so I'd say it fricking worked.
The DC he hired was fools gold and the position coaches couldn't help, so he fired them all after the worst LSU defense in recorded history.
And Baker has shown his quality everywhere he's been.
It's that simple. Don't be dumb.
