Why Did LSU Fire Blake Baker Two Years Ago?

This whole thing is weird. You fired the guy two years ago. Then you turn around and make him the highest paid assistant coach ever. Did he learn and improve that much in two years at Missouri? It just seems very strange. Almost like a panic hire. So, was LSU wrong to fire him two years ago? Or are they wrong to rehire him now?

He was our Linebacker coach and we hired a new DC who specialized in linebackers.

When you hire a new head coach it's not uncommon to fire everyone and start over. Nothing more. Kelly wanted to rebuild the culture. Unfortunately Blake baker got caught in the crosshairs.

This is a response thread.

For the millionth time, Baker was our LB coach and our incoming DC also coached LBs.

If you were genuinely well-informed and deeply interested in LSU football, you would recognize that he served as a linebacker coach and only assumed the role of defensive coordinator at Missouri. He wasn't retained when BK took charge, and now, following his success at Missouri, he has essentially demonstrated his competence as a defensive coordinator. It's not that challenging to comprehend.

Yes, this is a response thread to the Blake Baker hire. If you peruse the board there are a lot of them.
Do you know why they fired Blake Baker? It would have made sense if they had just completely cleaned house two years ago. But they didn’t. They kept a few folks, you would have to assume those they thought most highly of. Blake Baker was not one of those. So, why did they fire him? Were they wrong then? Has their opinion of him changed that much in two years? Or was it just the Ohio State game? Or something else?
Outside of Missouri and LSU fans, who knew who Missouri’s DC even was before all this? I admit I sure didn’t.

They kept exactly 2 from the coaching staff all the way down to the secretaries.
If that’s not cleaning house I don’t know what is

He sucked way back then. That was TWO years ago!

Don’t ask my wife what cleaning house is

The DC was a LB coach. Idiot.

You’ve sucked much longer than 2 years

Well Hugh thinks he’s a bad hire. Might need to bet the house on LSU going 15-0 next season

Just to show that LSU can literally fire a man only to re-hire him at the same program.
How's that for a flex.

So House was also the linebacker’s coach? If that is the case, it seems like firing Blake Baker and replacing him with Matt House was a mistake.
