Did the SEC home office ever make a statement?

About the non catch. I know that there was no way to change it after the game, but did they ever actually address the call. I would take an official apology in lieu of a shot at the national title.

We aren’t Bama, and we were playing Bama, so there will be no admissions of getting it wrong or apologies.
Simply put, we should not have let it be close enough for that to be the difference.

I agree with you 100% but how are these situations handled? Do they just pretend it didn’t happen? Do they discuss it with the coach privately? It just seems that if you sweep it under the rug without addressing it, then it is likely to happen again.

They were too busy laughing at all the egregious missed holding calls that they let Bama get away with.

Kirby probably didn’t complain. He should’ve thrown challenged.

I was at the game and didn’t have the stomach to watch a replay on TV until last week. There were about 5 2nd or 3rd down plays where a Bama db was wrapped around our WRs from behind before the ball arrived. Very catchable throws by Beck that were clear pass interference. I didn’t know it was that one sided until I saw the replay. Losing sucked but after seeing how much they got away with pisses me off.

That was what was most disappointing.
We should have staff looking at replays of these kind of critical 4th down plays.
Someone should have altered Kirby to challenge the reception.

He couldn't challenge, has to come from upstairs. The only thing he could've done was call a TO, which given the situation, he couldn't afford to lose the TO with so little time left in the half.
It was 100% on the officials and SEC...they supposedly watch every play and call an official's TO when something needs further review/more time to review. So they watched that play live, watched the replay, and SOMEHOW were satisfied it was 100% a catch.

Then later in the game stopped play to review a Georgia catch that wasn't even in question. Why did the officials deam that play worthy of review but not a crucial 4th and 15 or whatever?

Incorrect. The rule is: Kirby could have called a TO and informed the officials directly that he was challenging the call on the field.
If his challenge had been upheld, then the TO would have been restored.
Frankly, the play was too critical not to challenge it.

So, if it were so critical, then why didn't he?

I see it as an oversight/mistake.
Unfortunately, we made too many uncharacteristic mistakes in that game which seems to be a pattern when playing Alabama.
Having said that, I didn't expect our team to 3-peat because I didn't believe we had a championship level defense.
Still, I think we had an overall better team than Bama and should have won that game.

I have no doubt we should have won that game. That D we called and didn't adjust out of was atrocious. A coworker went all conspiracy and suggested the no challenge was done on purpose.

Somebody in the booth didn’t get it to him fast enough. Kirby is on the field so there’s no way he’s making these calls by himself. I would assume he has somebody watching the replays and letting him know when to make a challenge.
