I'm sorry but that is just a different of opinion. Unless they said doing everything to keep TRod was a condition of hiring I can't see a coach making a first priority retaining a guy he never met. And again as I said it looks TRob was there for Saban and only someone in the Saban tree would have kept him there. TRob doesn't seem like a guy so easily hurt that he would reject the guy cause he actually wants to meet him before offering the job.

If you are a smart coach you call Saban and ask him who’s crucial to keep to, to keep players from leaving before you sign the contract. Then you call all of those guys before you get on the plane. Then you ask those guys what players are most crucial to call to make sure I keep the team and that’s who you call from the plane.

What seems like common sense to you and I is apparently CKD being arrogant to others.

Do you not think Nick Saban and Kalen aren't doing the best they can to keep players?

Other programs are just cherry picking potential good players with more money.

I agree. The thing that I keep saying that keeps getting lost is that TRob showed no indication he wanted to stay once Saban retired. It could be on DeBoer, but it could be on TRob which is my guess.

The it falls on Bryne for hiring him. To me the only coaches that could have kept him here were Lanning, Lane, Muschamps and Schumann. Only one of those is a real option and we didn't get him. After that you I think you go with the best coach cause where we have suffered is on the field.

Again I said this before. We are not at the end of transfers but this roster is still the second best in the SEC to me.

You literally have no clue if anything like that did or did not happen though.

lol. Yes I do. Our new head coach has a guy for that. He can’t be bothered to reach out to people. He’s too much of a genius.

The question is was Nick trying to sign a DC when Durkin came to t-town or was he looking only for a LB coach.

If it was a DC, then that puts to bed the TRob deal as a DC at Bama. Trob was another Will Muschamp recommended coach.

So, you are good with firing T-Rob next year and watch Downs walk with him then? Now you are replacing a two-year starter.

I don't think they timeline works unless Steele was always planning on retiring when he did. Other wise it would have always been for a staff position. But even the if Steele is retiring Saban could have been making TRob and Durkin co-DCs. I am not sure what data we get from knowing that.

Or maybe it's not his strength. That is why good leaders delegate. Saban was maybe the best recruiter in the history of college football. We got lucky having a head coach who could recruit. DeBeor will need help from his assistants. Who cares.

Then hire someone from the tree. Don't let pride of a booster and unforvgiveness from past behavior hurt the program

I find Lane entertaining, but Lane has left everywhere he has been outside of USF in worse shape the we he got there. I think he maintains this roster somewhat but the percentages are he burns this thing to the ground within 5 years. The other thing is that I just don't believe he would win at the level believed.

Huge helping of irony in this statement.

The other piece about Lane is that his coaching turnover is pretty insane. I have hard time believing TRob wouldn't have walked regardless or lasted more than a year, and I think Lane's staff would have been underwhelming. It looks like he has lost 4 or more coaches every year at Ole Miss.
