Never. Tennessee is about to be elite again. The only people crying about changes to CFB follow shitty teams. I'm very excited about this new playoff format as Tennessee always plays it's best ball in the latter part of the season.

We had a 3 year starter defensive end enter the transfer portal for the 2nd time this year over NIL money, we paid him last year and now he wants more. He's solid but there isn't enough money in the world to please him if he wants a raise each year. I'm honestly excited to watch him fail in life. Which he will.

LSU has a freshman 5 star OL sitting out of the bowl game, who did not travel with the team, because he is considering offers from other schools. He's not in the portal yet and he's already got offers. It's happening everywhere and it's not sustainable.

Do you want to know how to fix this BK abd every other coach should immediately disassociate with this player. If he comes back to LSU next year bench his arse.

I'm tired of these 5 star talent prima donnas with 1 star hearts.

But BK won't do this and most coaches wouldn't as well fir obvious reasons. But the coaches could come together and really fix this imo if they wanted to.

I don’t like it either, but why wouldn’t he leverage his one skill? If he’s a poor kid, that isn’t going to get an engineering degree, why wouldn’t he try to get as much as he can, while he can?

He's free to do whatever he wants. So am I.

Opt outs suck too. People have been complaining about the NBA & MLB for years. "Load Management" etc. For the average fan it's bullshite. You don't see your favorite players, and meanwhile the "system" (hotels, tickets, night out, babysitters) all gives two shits about your misfortune. Too bad.

Recruiting is way less interesting now that it's basically unlimited free agency every year.

Gone are the days of Mark Richt, Fulmer, Spurrier. Gone is the nostalgia of reading old Lewis Grizzard articles and reminiscing about the glory days with Vince Dooley and Herschel Walker. Gone is the SEC camaraderie and the cute but fierce regional rivalries.

Maybe I'm being a little dramatic here

The question you ask is valid and I’ll add to it, how long are fans going to spend and invest as much money as they do for a semi pro league

They need the schools for the built-in fan support that was built on a century or more of tradition. But as those traditions (regionalism, conference stability, rivalries and players staying for 3 to 4 years) go away, there starts to be a disconnect between the institution and its football program. College football isn't dying, it's already dead.

Lol, I know that feeling persecuted and marginalized is the big trendy thing in America and everybody is trying it, but is thill really a thread about how college football fans are being persecuted and marginalized?

I think it's just about how the product sucks now and how long is it sustainable?

College football is a scam - beauty pageant. Expect to see “names” as much as possible in the expanded playoffs

Garbage I’m no longer paying for. I catch games on TV if I want to watch them.

An “average” fan that taps out of CFB doesn’t deserve the sport.

For me it's about 25 seconds into a typical Auburn bowl game.

I've been a season ticket holder for 20+ years. I'm starting to consider just purchasing individual game tickets. This past season, the first 3 home games were all in September when the weather is hot. I love to tailgate, but not in 90 degree weather. Then, there is the Thursday night game which SBC teams play. You have to take off work Thursday and probably all of Friday. So, you get 2 Saturday games in cool weather. I pay for chair seats, but they aren't as comfortable as a La-Z-Boy. It's getting easier and easier to find a reason not to go to campus.

Totally agree with OP. Can you imagine being an FSU fan paying all that money for hotel, tickets ,travel etc.. only to have most of the FSU team opt out of their bowl game. Something needs to be done like not giving the option to opt out until the last game is played for the season. Fans are the ones getting screwed not the players.

OP, a more accurate question might have been when does a religious person tap out.

Well the average fan is pending money on internet and or cable to watch the team, the average fan donates to the schools to get the privilege to buy season tickets, the average fan pays to travel and watch the team at bowl games, the average fan is now supporting the NIL salaries of these players.

The average fan is financing these players, schools and coaches. U start turning them away then everyone else along the pay chain will suffer. People stop watching then advertisers will stop paying and broadcasts will generate less. But go ahead and belittle the average fan.

Already tapped out for good. That's why we went instead to Disneyland yesterday and had a swingin' good time on the Tea Cups!!

College football's passe' now. Gone with the wind. I'm done with it!

A tough question ask a message board centered around college football, but I think the answer is it’s already happening. Younger generations aren’t as interested in sports as much as older ones are. Combine that with all the changes, and I think you’ll see attendance start to drop at some point, mostly for G5 and smaller P5 schools, blue bloods will probably continue to draw crowds. Tv viewership probably won’t be as affected.

I know I myself am finding less interest in it. With the portal and NIL, it’s just an NFL-lite league with no loyalty. The pageantry is gone. I’ll still watch, but with much less caring that I would have a decade ago. It is what it is.
