Looked like Hooks was sitting in the open area for sure
There is a reason hooks was benched and rarely saw the field. This WR group is the worst I have ever seen.

Hank Brown look great, but it was in the 4th and next to zero pressure was being applied defensively. Still, he threw the ball better and assessed the plays better than either of the other two

I’m with jang on this one. I felt like pocket awareness became one of the only things Thorne was good at. The issue was him seemingly keying on one guy when the pressure picked up and not scanning the field.

Montgomery has to go. He coordinates the offense.

This game and NMS have a lot in common in terms of the team just not showing up. Terrible play all around. Poor preparation mixed with no heart.

Brown looked good as he was decisive, accurate and quick to release. Thorne looked lost and shell shocked.

So do missed fumbles, missed INTs, and muffed punts. Really solid performance from our guys when you look back on it.

Oh I get it. It was a complete suckfest.

I honestly don’t think Freeze spent 5 mins preparing for this game. He looked clueless out there.

I never cared for him personally but I was hopeful in him doing well here. But so far, I am not a fan of his game day preparation and coaching. He has done a shite job on the field this year. We don’t have the talent but it almost looked like he threw the towel in.

Just have to be hopeful for next year. Somehow.

final stat line:

Maryland finished with only 6 more yards (306-300), had fewer 1st downs (15 to AU’s 19) and lost the TOP by exactly 4 minutes

if we has mustered even a shred of offense in the first quarter this would have been a ballgame

This. I mean part of the reason we hired him was so that Freeze could focus on recruiting. He has failed miserably.

This.
Freeze is focused on stocking our recruiting cupboard which is good, but these blowout losses to shite teams are concerning.

I think he would agree with your assessment of his on field job this year. I’m full on giving him a pass for this pathetic season. Clock starts now though. Need to see some on field progress next time we line it up

Holy crap I just thought of something. What if freeze is waiting on kaidon salter to finish up the bowl game? Maybe he transfers to auburn from liberty.

I don’t either. I think he’s a good play caller and offensive coach, and don’t think it’s a coincidence that in our best offensive performances of the year he seemed to be involved on the headset and in the worst he seemed to just be chilling on the sideline.

It doesn’t shock me that Hugh might be a better play caller than Montgomery. It does shock me that if my theory is correct that he allowed it to happen multiple times.

But this is all just message board speculation from a guy trying to appease a two year old throughout most of the games

Just think if we wouldn’t have started Scott at corner?

Finding a new QB1 is step 1. Retaking play calling duties is step 2. Tell Ron Roberts to start bringing pressure or hit the road is step 3.

Freeze is focused on recruiting, but play calling aside, his in game decisions have left a lot to be desired

Dude is great at nickel. He was moved there for a reason though. He’s not an outside cover guy.
