I didn’t even think of that until I read your comment. Ole Miss and Auburn aren’t playing either. Very weird.

Seeing off-season news about State, A&M and Ole Miss and thinking about it like I used to think about Kentucky and South Carolina (non-essential) won't stop being strange for a while.

Curious as to why you didn't include his JUCO stop?? Didn't fit your narrative did it? Maybe y'all had the same college grades.

He was an original transfer to Ole Miss from LSU but didn't have the grades. He'd have been playing for us if LSU wasn't such a shite academic school.

The 2016 team had Van Jefferson, Demore'ea Stringfellow, Evan Engram, AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, Quincy Adeboyejo, Damarkus Lodge, and Dawson Knox. That's 4 pro-bowlers and a couple other guys that were role players or practice squad dudes in the league.

I am still amazed that Van Jefferson, AJ Brown and DK Metcalf never played in a bowl game at Ole Miss. And, while technically on the roster in 2015, Knox and Lodge didn't either. Matt Luke was special

He was ineligible at LSU, too, which is why he tried to transfer in the first place. Then found out he needed to be eligible to actually play at Ole Miss.

The kid was a true freshman in the one semester he was a student at LSU. And if it's taken him 2 years of JUCO to become eligible, I think it's pretty obvious it was a Deion Smith issue

Ole Miss wasn't bowl eligible due to NCAA sanctions for 2 of Matt's 3 years a HC. The only year they could have gone was 2016 and Hugh was the coach that year.

Say what you will but we pretty much are returning everyone of value next year. We went 10-2, are currently pulling in some gold from the portal, and kept our players from leaving. Ole Miss is going to be pretty good next year too.

We don't play Ole Miss, so don't really care. Congrats?

While true, Ole Miss only had enough wins to go once in Luke's career, and that was with a 6-6 record

and Freeze went 5-7 in 2016

Those records with those players is tough to do

Unfortunately those players were about all Ole Miss had those years. We were pretty gutted by the sanctions and subsequent transfers, especially defensively. Luke actually did a solid job keeping some of them around.

Jackson Butt Dart isn’t all that though.

Jackson Dart beat the BY GOD Heisman winner, so there's that...and a new year's six bowl instead of cheeze it bowl.

The NCAA and Matt Luke killed our program for a solid five seasons. Hugh's last year, Luke's three years, and Kiffin's first year were much less than they could have been due to NCAA sanctions and poor coaching
