Lebby's time here at OU has been marked by some unusual things.
First, last year's 6-7 result had everyone pointing fingers at everyone. Many OU fans last year and this year want to believe the defense is "improved"...
So rightly or wrongly blame went on Lebby for the issues.
There is also a large contingent of OU fans who think Dillion Gabriel isn't very good and are mad at Lebby for not starting Jackson Arnold this season.
Finally, when he had his father in law Art Briles on the field after a game... that stirred up a hornets nest with fans as well as OU officials.
Lebby had one really bad game this year (against Kansas) where he let the weather affect his play calling. To a great degree that loss was on him calling way to much sideways stuff.
Other than that, he has done a pretty darn good job. They went into the season without a running back and a pretty lousy O line. They lost their "go to" receiver at mid season and he and Gabriel had to reinvent the offense to a degree.
These are things that the Lebby haters can't seem to see.
State could have done way worse IMO in terms of getting an offensive guy. Whether that translates into head coaching efficacy is anybody's guess.

Thank you for giving some solid insight instead of being a complete cockass like Boomer Charlotte.

Thanks for an actual thoughtful response.
My only question is… Kansas was basically in the rain right? You kind of have to run more sideways stuff to accommodate the wet ball. Again your defense gave up 38 points (actually 31). That sounds like more of a defensive problem than the OCs play calling he still scored 33 in points in the rain

Probably the most valid argument. Gabriel is a solid college QB but has a hard ceiling and Arnold has NFL potential.
Blaming the Kansas loss on the offense when the defense gave up 38 is just borderline retarded. That is Oklahoma trying their hardest not to admit that they hired the wrong HC who is calling the defenses.

Imagine Oklahoma st or Texas fans coming in and defending a hire Oklahoma just made. That’s what’s happening in this thread, but OP is so bitter he can’t see it.
