So Fisch or Elko and you keep ERob?

I was just throwing his name out there since it was rumored before. I think UCLA is probably a better fit for him.

My point was we have plenty of options. I think Elko as HC, Robinson as DC or just keep the AHC title, and then you spend some serious money getting someone to run the offense. Go moneywhip Grubb at Washington.

The story makes no sense as presented. Bjork cannot execute a contract without BOR approval.

This looks like an agent leveraging us to get his client a raise and/or more program resources like facility upgrades and NIL support.

Bjork would have to be a political buffoon to surprise or embarrass the BOR.

I am not going to take anything as a given until there is an official announcement from the university on our new coach.

Something happened that was completely fubared. You don't go from everyone cruising along with not much in the way of leaks to UK sources leaking it and then BMA types blowing it up for no reason.

The simplest explanation is that Stoop’s agent used contacts at Kentucky to plant false narrative that we were going to hire Stoops. The Kentucky contacts start plastering the story on Social media. Our own social media personalities start repeating the story and it picks up a life on its own.

Bjork can lead a search and recommend candidates but cannot hire on his own. It is possible he pitched Stoops as an option but it was never going to happen without BOR buy-in.

All of the gory details will eventually come out. I could very easily be wrong but I look for the simplest scenario first. Who knows? Maybe Bjork did not handle this competently and that ends up being the simplest scenario.

My understanding is that Bjork misled the regents and a few donors on who he was going after (which was supposed to be Fisch). But then he turned around and ignored Fisch by going after Stoops. He negotiated with Stoops the terms that the regents had OK'd with Fisch.

But there's a ton of stories going around so I'm no longer sure what's true and what isn't.

You must not have seen how poorly he handled the situation w/the NCAA at Ole Miss.

This is the reason why I hated his hire. The dude did nothing to protect Ole Miss. He practically turned Ole Miss in and then hired Matt Luke to add insult to injury .

The BoR hired him because he was supposed to be a "Yes" man to them. But I guess that relationship has soured and now he's trying to challenge his bosses.

That still doesn’t make sense. Did Bjork think he was going to slide the BOR the contract with Stoops name instead of Fisch and hope they wouldn’t notice? And did he think if he did that he wouldn’t get fired?

A more plausible story is he has loosely discussed dollars and years with a few guys because he knows money will be a factor. He’s not be given the blank check that Woodward got to get Jimbo. He likely reports those loose parameters to the higher ups. Somehow that is being construed as a done deal when leaked. It only makes sense that Stoops would leak it if he is just looking for something from UK. Or maybe it was leaked on by a hire up on our side who hated the idea of Stoops and was hoping the frenzy would make it dead on arrival.

Two weeks ago, 95% of our fan base would’ve been ecstatic to get Elko. That looks like who were going to get now. I’d be fine if he kept E Rob and if he kept Petrino at this point.

Sounds like the coaching search has turned into a AD search, and I'm all for it. If Bjork is gone I don't see how we hire a coach before a AD but who knows anymore. We'll probably loose a lot more recruits and players to the portal now, still can't believe how badly this has been handled but I shouldn't be surprised. The most Aggie thing ever.

I still can’t believe Bjork is employed by A&M. He shoukd have been fired months before Fisher.

Why would you want to keep Petrino? The offense hasn’t been that great this year.

I worry this is too much too fast with Robinson. I want him under Elko.

Sounds like it’s Elko. Brent Z now reporting it.

I don’t hate it, like it more than Traylor who seemed to be favored at one point and Stoops for about 2 hours last night.

Hope he can assemble a good staff and we win some games.

petrino was handicapped by jimbo. his tenure at arky and even his personal life shows he's a risk taker at heart and isn't afraid of changing it up. i think we give him a shot for 2 years, if signed off on by ERob.

I like it better than Stoops for sure.

Hell, Elko has done better through 2 seasons at Duke than Spurrier in the same time frame. Not that that’s a main indicator of success. Just hoping Elko turns out to be our Spurrier.

no, he isn't. an exceptional get probably wouldn't regress in his second year as HC.

hell, he wasn't even that good as a DC with the exception of the covid season, which was an anomaly on his total record.

mark my words, Elko ain't winning shite.
