This game and the at Florida game was/is always going to be a loss and it doesn't matter.

Win at Ole Miss, beat Tennessee and Arkansas at home, then the SEC Championship is won.

This may be the most reasonable post this poster has ever made. We got beat so bad, the trolls sound like the voice of reason. lol

Is Flanagan suspended for our game at Ole Miss? If Wague got a one game suspension for throwing a punch, Flanagan definitely should. Hope we get Wrightsell back for that game.

Unless his ejection counts as a suspension, he should be out.

I actually think there’s a good chance there will be co-SEC champs this year. Too many teams bunched up with similar records

You're not going to run into too many teams hitting everything they shoot like that. But we can't win this year because we just have no post presence. Big stiffs like the one for Florida and UK just run wild.

There’s got to be an adjustment to the defensive philosophy. I was glad to see them abandon the useless press from early in the season, but they still try to play too aggressive and pick guys up 35 feet from the basket which allows straight line drives to the basket where Bama has practically no rim protection. When they come up against teams with quicker and more elite guards, they’ve got to have another game plan. A matchup zone or a softer man defense that prioritizes keeping everything in front would slow the game down a bit, but would lead to more contested jumpers instead of so many easy drives or kick outs to wide open shooters.

Agree. I’d add at Auburn too. Gotta figure a way to beat Tennessee and beat the ones you should.

This isn’t a dominate Bama team - able to go in and just beat good teams, with raucous crowds, on their home courts.

Bama will need some help (good draws and good seeding close to home) to go far in the tourney.

The next game I coach in college basketball will be my first, but I agree with you about attempting to have extensive on ball pressure 35 feet from the basket. That's really a luxury you only get to have when you have a very sound rim protector. I felt like UK has youthful guards and so far the teams that beat them make their guards think. Sit down in coverage and make them break down the defense. Those 5 star freshman guards are at their best when they are playing purely on instincts and not when they are forced to become floor generals. I thought we kind of played into their hands a little yesterday on defense. Antonio Reeves is the outlier for them. A veteran who is going to get his.

The O/U is around 176. Very high for a college game. This is saying the game is gonna be in the high 80s for both teams.
Probably not a bad idea to take the under.

Very tough loss. I doubt we beat 10RC even at home. We could lose several more if we don't defend better and not TURN the ball over.

I think this team has over achieved and I/m proud of them no matter how things turn out.

I think Wrightsell being missing is being lost here.

He is very significant. His on ball defense and ability to catch and shoot is something we badly missed against Florida and Kentucky

That is 12 to 20 points and some good hustle on ball defense missing

When people say he's not that big of a deal or he wouldn't have scored 20 points against Kentucky. I'll say this...these past two games he's missed...our offense has hit a wall.

Latrell Wrightsell is our X-FACTOR no matter how we slice both offensively and defensively.

It's a crazy stat posted about Latrell Wrightsell Jr....like if he scores in double figures then we are undefeated or something of that nature.

He's Bama's Spark Plug!

Basketball is strange. One game a season does not make. Just look at what transpired last week or so.
Kentucky wins at Auburn and home against Alabama, but loses at LSU, who just lost to State at home by 20.
Don't forget Alabama beat State by 32 just a 3 weeks ago.

Isn't that the truth...I watched a sports betting documentary a handful of years back. It took the results of 10 sports bettors who picked games (against the spread) for an entire season VS. the results of a coin flip for the same games over the course of the entire season. The yearly results of the coin flip beat 8 out of 10 of the participants.

We're bad defensively but at least with Wrightsell we can go 4 guard lineup with shooters 1-5.

It puts more pressure on teams on defense and makes them get into lineups and offensive sets they might not prefer themselves because they want to exploit the small 4/5 mismatch or similar.

What I have noticed about him is he hits timely shots.

He's either stopping our opponents run or he is sparking ours.

When we don't have him there that means Walters plays more and he is no where near as consistent of offense and he struggles guarding one-on-one on defense.

I noticed he always needed help and whenever our players cheated it let to a pass, another pass and then an open shot.
