The No. 15/15 Alabama men's basketball team secured another dominant home victory, defeating Texas A&M 100-75 Saturday afternoon inside Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide led for all but 2:45 in the 25-point win as the team extended its home conference winning streak to 16 consecutive games.
The Crimson Tide (18-7, 10-2 SEC) drained 18 three-pointers in the contest on the way to securing the team's eighth 100-point game of the season, the most since in college basketball in nearly 30 dating back to the 1995-96 Kentucky national championship team.
Mark Sears led all scoring with 23 points in the victory, his 16th 20-point game of the season, to go along with four assists, four rebounds and three steals. Rylan Griffen (17), Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (16), Aaron Estrada (11) and Sam Walters (11) also scored in double figures, while Walters paced the Tide with eight boards.
The Aggies (15-10, 6-6 SEC) had four with double-figures, led by Tyrece Radford with 22 points and four rebounds.
Head Coach Nate Oats Postgame Comments
This was a big win. We have teams right on our tail in this SEC race, so we've got to protect the home floor. We didn't do a great job on the defensive glass, they rebounded 52 percent of their misses. I told the team first we have to try to turn them over. Second, we have to actually box out and rebound, and we weren't great on that. Third, I said after they get an offensive rebound, we still have to get a stop.

Gotta feel pretty good about our position to at least share another conference title if we can finish 4-2.
UT has Auburn, @Alabama, @South Carolina, and Kentucky to end the season. It’s hard to see them running the table against that.

Is it just me or is Cal catching too much flack? I mean, the dude recruits 17-18 year olds who will more than likely play in the NBA, and is going against the proven CBB model that shows that senior heavy teams win in March. What do you do? Even Saban just used the portal to cherry pick.

I hope he keeps their fanbase just happy enough.. Don't need them sniffing around here.

Tubby Smith got run out of town for similar performance. Kentucky shouldn’t be consistently finishing behind other programs in the SEC, and I think they have finished lower than their preseason ranking every year for a decade now.
Cal just seems behind the times schematically to me.

Cal is at one of the best jobs in college basketball and has effectively turned it into a halfway house for one and dones. I can understand why a lot of their fans are fed up with it. That program has no discernible culture or playing style at this point. It's basically just an NBA showcase team.

We’re only committing 12.3 turnovers per game. Last year it was 13.8, was 13.9 in 2020-2021 and over 14 the other Oats years. And we’re playing super fast as usual.
We just don’t throw the ball out of bounds that much, so possessions keep ending with these awesome shooters shooting open shots.

Every year he complains about his team being young and being all freshmen.
He can't have it both ways.

Slightly worse than a coin flip chance of being a lock for a 2 seed and almost certainly winning the conference outright in mid-February is not where I expected this team to be back in December. I don't think you can really oversell just how good of a job Oats has done with this group considering he's working with an entirely new staff and relying on only 3 returning players, one of whom has been in the doghouse all season, to lead by example.

I like that. Our odds at an outright Championship or better than the next best teams odds are to win a share of it.
