Now if we could dump Missouri. They're like an acne blemish on this great conference.

You are correct, but the new thinking is brand matchups. Both the SEC and Big 10 want the best matchups televised from 11am to 10pm.

I think Clemson is trying to speak it into existence.

But if it does happen, I wonder if it means 9 (10?) game schedule with east/west divisions.

I’m just glad the SEC is keeping it regional.

aTm and SC are not charter members.

They can’t block anyone.

Not saying you’re wrong, but I don’t believe it.

Expansion has always been about adding TV markets. (That’s only reason MO was added. They bring STL and KC tv market.

Clemson and FSU do neither. And as a charter member, UF has the ability to blackball FSU.

I'm not going to pretend that I understand all the intricacies of media markets/television subscriptions/revenue generation or anything, but the general tone in all of these conversations now (fair or otherwise) is that media markets matter much less than they did in 2011 when Missouri and Texas A&M were announced as joining the following season.

Again, I don't understand why (something to do with streaming versus linear television, maybe?) and also feel like adding a Virginia school and a North Carolina school to expand the footprint would bring in a bunch of cash. But from a brand perspective, Clemson and FSU are easily two of the three or four "available" (non-SEC) schools so that's not nothing.

Not sure what charter members have to do with blocking.

If we added any schools we need one from Virginia and one from North Carolina. We already own Florida and South Carolina.

Not surprised an LSU fan is scared of FSU being in the same conference.

Damn. Imagine going undefeated after playing Florida State, Clemson, LSU, Texas, Alabama, Florida, etc. and then losing in the gay arse expanded playoffs to some three loss Big 12 team.

The SEC being founded in Jackson really helped us both.

Ive gone on a rabbit trail watching these "History of the ____ conference" videos on YT. The guy that does them is really good. I learned that the old Southwest Conference actually invited LSU and Ole Miss to be charter members but they declined.

With 12 playoff slots and 2 super conferences each will get 4-5 teams in per year with last 2-3 to the rest.

Basically its like NFC/AFC. We’ll have our Conf playoffs with winner facing the B10 playoff winner.

B12 plays Pac2 for junior championship..

False.

See Colorado for a good example as to why it isn’t the TV market the matters.

It is brands.. product.. what matchups will bring the most eyeballs.

Now I think UNC would be a great get.. but not because they are in a state the SEC currently doesn’t have a footprint.

Notre Dame
UNC
FSU
Clemson
Miami
Duke

Those are the best brands imo. UVA should probably be on there, but they are a North school imo..

I look at Notre Dame as North & South.

But that’s just my opinion. Either way, it’s all about brands and matchups now.

Alabama vs UVA.. who cares
Georgia vs Clemson.. yea please
Texas vs Georgia Tech.. yawn
Oklahoma vs FSU.. yes please

etc etc

Right. And the SEC needs to be better in the basketball world than the Football world.

God knows I strongly dislike NC, but they're a better fit right now..
