UGA has a rather large lead in the series, but SC annoying wins at the most inconvenient times.
I was surprised by South Carolina beating Tennessee last season so they might be able to pull it off. Then again, Georgia is on another level.

Georgia is 2 injuries at tailback away from starting walk ons. Their o line may be good enough to overcome even that though. Their line is about as impressive as you’ll see in football

For a while there it was getting to be a good hate filled rivalry but the talent disparity is too large now and both sides know it.

It's not a rivalry for UGA fans but we are #2 on SC's list of rivals, just behind clemson

No, you aren't. But please, tell us more about ourselves.

Are we #3 behind The Citadel?

Well, going back 40 yeas years, Georgia holds a 24-13-record advantage in the game. It's been competitive as some of those Georgia wins in this 40 year period have been one score wins. Alot of 24-21 type scores there. It aint the lopsided deal it was in the first part of the 20th century as the Dogs held a 30-6-2 advantage when we averaged playing them every 7 years or so. It's become closer to a rivalry than they will ever admit.

Depends who you ask. More SC fans would say yes than Ga. fans.

UGA/USC FB History

That 1 quote keeps you happy despite the Dawgs winning almost 3X for each SC victory?

In the last 40 years its 24and 13 and at least 7or 8 of those 24 wins by UGA were by 6 points or less. In the last 40 years we are 4 wins away from you Record against Auburn. 22 and 17. It aint the lopsided ancient history it was. In 40 years, 24 and 13 aint domination bud. This game has been close with a few exceptions for nearly half a decade and you know it.

Nice of you to cherry pick the last 40 years of the 129 years since the 1st game.

It's a border war, but I like it. It's a fun game, that I don't like to lose.

Will you get to do the one for Billy Napier when team not winning key games and go 6-6 or worst?

Its more of a border war situation than a rival. I suspect we have probably played South Carolina more than all but a few of the original SEC teams (USC and UGA have played more often than UGA has played Alabama, Tennessee, LSU and both Mississippi Schools) and we have played Kentucky one more time than we have played USC. UGA dominates the series but the game is usually a very good one and there have been some great ones and same shocking upsets in the series. Its not a rival like US and Florida and us and Auburn because it has only recently been a conference game. It is not a rivalry like the UGA GT rivalry because it wasn't a conference game like Tech was and it isn't about winning the state. It isn't as big a rivarly as us and Clem's son because they have been better on average than USC although UGA has about the same winning % against both schools. Its a good border war game but not really a rival...I know UGA fans do not think about the game in June like we do Florida and I doubt USC fans give UGA much of a thought until game week.

There is a nice pep rally in Augusta, Georgia (actually in North Augusta SC now) the Friday before the game every year. It is a nice street festival and its fun to poke fun at the SC fans and they enjoy poking fun at UGA fans but it is VERY friendly...just a great way to share a very southern experience - nothing like college football, some live music, good food and just enough beer to lube the system to have a really good time. It used to be free but its in a minor league baseball stadium (a very nice one by the way) so it costs to get in now. The money goes to at risk youth programs in the Central Savannah River Area so its for a good cause.

we just mock Oglethorpe's Colony of Debtors & Less Fortunates for one week every football season -

Oglethorpe was able to convince the King to fund Georgia and send the nations debtors to the last colony because Carolinians of both the north and south variety were unable to hold off the Spainards from Florida and the French from the Gulf Coast. They were too busy in the Carolina's funding pirates, holding dances, having picnics and interbreeding to protect what the King had provided from the Spanish and French so Oglethorpe brought a band of debtors to the Savannah river, the Spanish and the French retreated back to their respective hoods and the Carolina's were once again free to conduct their silly lives while the people of Georgia proceeded to build what would emerge as the empire state of the region which would dominate the region commercially, culturally, politically and economically for the foreseeable future.

Yes. Seemingly not the automatic win you perceive it to be.

It was definitely a rivalry when Spurrier was at SC. SC was also much more competitive back then. UGA has really owned SC since the 2019 upset. It's ridiculously stupid that this game isn't on the 2024 SEC schedule, yet SC plays Missouri, A&M, Oklahoma, and Alabama.
