Don't leave 1977 for Bama.
Number one Texas goes down to number 5 Notre Dame
Number 2 Bama blows out number 8 Ohio St in the Sugar Bowl
Notre Dame goes from 5 to 1.
1966 was bad but this at this one is at least if not worse.
that would have been 77,78,79

Georgia is on the brink of history this year if all goes well.
I think the Gophers were the last ones in the 30's when the Gophers got Bernie from Tulane.

'66 Bama was undefeated and finished ranked 3rd ?
What undefeated teams beat them out that were ranked 1 and 2 ?
Oh ok..n/m I looked it up.
Nothing like a political/ sanctimonious spin for college football polls! Damn !
It happens...remember...national champions, back in the day, were voted on before the bowls.
1938 Tennessee finished 11-0 and finished #2 behind TCU
1939 Tennessee finished the regular season 10-0 and finished #2 behind aTm.
1940 Tennessee finished the regular season 10-0 and finished the season #4 behind Minnesota (undefeated and didn't play in a bowl game), Stanford (undefeated and didn't play in a bowl game), and Michigan 7-1.
So, Tennessee went 3 straight years without losing a regular season game, and did not win a National Championship in any of those seasons.
