You've melted a bit in this thread. It's as if you are kind of angry about something.

I’m not sure if the directors were attempting to do this, but they showed bipolar tendencies pretty well without blatantly pointing them out.

In one scene he’s kissing rings and telling our boosters how much they mean to him, in the next he’s calling people either a p**** or a “total G” then he’s saying he tried to kill himself then he’s all better then it shows him drinking and bragging about not watching film … it was an interesting watch but seems like he’s got a long way to go.

Might’ve been a premature documentary.

He had a lot of talent for someone who just wanted to party all the time. Typical rich kid.

He grew up a Texas fan. Ofcourse he will say that.

It's like Burrow and LSU. Burrow is an Ohio kid.

It would be like if i was a good QB out of highschool and chose UGA over Tennessee. No way in hell.

Pretty sure this got 9 down votes because of who posted the reply and not the response.

This place sucks.

The 2 most exciting QBs I ever saw were Menziel and Michael Vick at VaTech. Geniuses at improvisation. Both had off the field issues. Really respect Vick: to this day after his punishment for dog fighting was over, he has continued his work for the welfare of dogs. Walking the talk. I’m concerned and worried for Johnny Manziel. He should have grown up by now. He needs a good mental health counselor, and to get some good people around him. Wish for the best for him.

Yes, I'm aware you can get PTSD outside the service.

What a once in a lifetime story

I watched it and while i feel a little bad for the guy... i didn't turn it off and think "what a once in a lifetime story".

So what makes it a once in a life time story?? It can't be playing college ball, being drafted, not making in the NFL and then figuring out you have a mental disorder or mental issue. That shite happens all the time... in the NFL and the NBA.

I came away feeling empathy for Johnny. I myself suffer from PTSD. Mental illness is real. He was unable to cope with all the adulation coming his way. His one friend Nate, when that knot was severed when Jonny entered the NFL, was I believe a big reason for his spiral into self destruction.
Uncle Nate was Johnny’s enabler and helped him live a life style that was out of control early in his life. Nate was Johnny’s cover man and when Johnny made to the NFL draft it was advised that he shed Nate for his own good.

Yeah, I'm thinking part 2 would be entertaining, but it won't have a happy ending.

I'm really tired of freaking everyone these days using Bipolar Disorder to excuse their horrid behavior. He was a guy with a lot of talent and had a chance that most who play football only dream of having. And he blew it.

It's good that he recognizes he did it to himself. That said, now he can go and do better. Maybe his story helps someone coming up in the college ranks with similar talent.

That's not how bipolar disorder works tho. Any one of those behaviors can be symptomatic but it's not a disorder where a person is shifting moods and personalities every minute. If that's happening other things are involved - drugs or other mental conditions.
